The Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) is a Group 3 race for two-year-old fillies run at Caulfield Racecourse in late January. The 1000m sprint is a traditional lead-up to the Group 1 $2 million Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) the following month during the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival and offers $250,000 in total prize money.
*In 2025 the Blue Diamond Fillies Preview and other Saturday races in Melbourne took place at Sandown Lakeside.

Rubi’s Choice ($26) announced herself in style with a sharp victory on debut in the 2026 Blue Diamond Preview for fillies at Caulfield on Saturday, producing the kind of professional, high-cruising performance that marks a filly with serious autumn potential. She travelled sweetly just off the speed before quickening decisively when the pressure went on, putting the race away with authority and never looking in danger late having come from fourth at the top of the straight to reel in the front runners and go on with the job. It was a polished display for such an early-season 2YO, and the strength she showed through the line suggests she’ll only improve as the distances rise. On this evidence, Rubi’s Choice has stamped herself as a genuine Blue Diamond contender despite not currently being nominated for the $2 million feature on February 21.

Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) History
The Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) was first run in 1982 as a Listed race and Olive Branch was the inaugural winner.
Plenty of classy fillies have since won the event including Bounding Away (1986), Triscay (1990), Rostova (2009), Crystal Lily (2010), Miracles Of Life (2013), and Eloping (2014).
The race was upgraded to a Group 3 event from 1988-2004, dropped back to Listed class from 2005-14 and regained its current Group 3 status again in 2015. From 1982-83 the race was run over 1200m but has been contested over a shorter 1000m distance since 1984.
Sandown Racecourse has also hosted the Blue Diamond Preview races on a number of occasions. The 2005 edition of the race was declared by stewards as a ‘No Race’ after two of the fillies had a “flying start” and jumped through the stalls before the barriers officially opened.
In 2017 the Blue Diamond Fillies Preview runner up Tulip went on to run third in that autumn’s Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) in Sydney.
