Stuart Gandy’s Wordsmith filly Geegees Mistruth ($2) was in a class of her own first-up at Hobart dominating the Mystic Journey Stakes 2025 results with a powerhouse two length win to remain unbeaten at the track.

The 1200m sprint race is open to fillies and mares and is contested under weight-for-age conditions. Offering $150,000 in prize money and serves as a nice taster for punters keen for the Sunday’s Group 3 Ladbrokes Hobart Cup (2400m).
The best out of the Bow Mistress Trophy field each year may back-up at Launceston Racecourse in the Group 3 Vamos Stakes (1400m) run under the same conditions and also for female runners only. In 2016 the Bow Mistress Trophy runner-up I Love It backed up to win the Vamos Stakes. She also went on to run third in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) in Adelaide that winter.
In 2024 the race was renamed the Mystic Journey Stakes in honour of former star Tasmanian filly Mystic Journey best known for her Group 1 Australian Guineas and All-Star Mile victories as a three-year-old in Melbourne in 2019.
The Bow Mistress Trophy 2025 ran on Friday February 7, 2025 and saw the favourite Geegees Mistruth ($2F) easily account for her rivals with a two-length win fresh. Â

She carted a hefty 59kg to a half-length win here at Hobart last time out defeating Highland Duel over 1100m and is proven at the six-furlongs being two-from-two at the distance. Bow Mistress Trophy / Mystic Journey Stakes History
The Bow Mistress Trophy was originally named after former star Tasmanian mare Bow Mistress who won a host of top races over her career.
It was inaugurated in 2006 as a Listed race and gained its current Group 3 status in 2012. It is one of the country’s younger Black-Type races and has been won by the likes of Diamond Cover (2008), Lady Lynette (2014), and dual winner Rebel Bride (2012-13).
The race was renamed ahead of the 2024 edition as the Mystic Journey Stakes.
In 2025 Geegees Mistruth became the first three-year-old filly to beat home the older mares and win the Mystic Journey Stakes.
