Michael Freedman’s classy Brazen Beau four-year-old, Cinsault ($6), made it four wins from her last five starts when posting her third victory on the trot handling a rise in grade to narrowly deny Lazzura in the 2026 Millie Fox Stakes results at Rosehill. The Godolphin-raced mare fought back strongly showing plenty of guts in a thrilling stride-for-stride battle with the short favourite the closing stages thanks to a strong ride by Chad Schofield – who enjoyed a treble on Silver Slipper Day – before getting her head out in front on the line to defeat the favourite.

The Group 2 race is open only to fillies and mares aged three years and older, is run at set weights plus penalties and offers $300,000 in total prize money. Runners may come into the Millie Fox Stakes field first-up or off an earlier autumn run.
The Millie Fox Stakes shares its race card with two other Group 2 races: the Group 2 $400,000 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) for Randwick Guineas-bound three-year-olds and the Group 2 $300,000 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) for the young Golden Slipper Stakes hopefuls.
Many of the better performed female gallopers out of the Millie Fox Stakes will continue onto bigger things in the autumn such as a run in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) or the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) in March.
Daysee Doom (2018) and Zougotcha (2024) are the latest mares to complete the Millie Fox Stakes – Coolmore Classic double.
The 2023 Millie Fox Stakes form was franked with the winner Electric Girl running third in that year’s Canterbury Stakes results, while the Millie Fox third place-getter Roots continued on to win the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes that prep before a Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara second in Brisbane in the winter.
Zougotcha franked the Millie Fox form in 2024 going on to complete the Group 1 Coolmore Classic – Queen of the Turf Stakes double at her next two starts that autumn.
In 2025 the Millie Fox Stakes winner, Firestorm, went on to frank the form with a next-up second in the Coolmore Classic.
The Millie Fox Stakes 2026 ran on Saturday February 21, 2026 as part of Rosehill’s Hobartville Stakes Day card and was won narrowly by Michael Freedman’s classy four-year-old Cinsault ($6).Â

LAZZURA (8) is back in her delayed autumn return after scratching out of last Saturday’s Triscay, and the Group 2 Millie Fox looks an ideal starting point for Chris Waller’s class mare. The four-year-old daughter of Snitzel has a far better record here at Rosehill (2:1-1-0) than at Randwick so I can see why the stable have leant towards this campaign kickoff. Love the 1300m for her first-up, and she’s a proven fresh flyer (4:2-0-1). Won the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes here last year with authority, while first and second-up last prep she enjoyed back-to-back wins in the Group 3 Show County and Group 2 Let’s Elope at Randwick and HQ respectively proving her versatile nature. She has form around some very nice types, her Group 1 Empire Rose fifth behind Pride Of Jenni at Flemington in the spring was better than it looks on paper and I think back in Sydney in this winnable race she can land the first prize payment off some telling trials. J-Mac has the ride, and he’ll take her back from the gate but watch for her late.

Millie Fox Stakes History
The inaugural edition of the Millie Fox Stakes was held in 1996, with Chlorophyll taking out the race that year. The race is named after Millie Fox, the wife of renowned owner and breeder Stan Fox, for whom the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes – now Callander-Presnell – was previously named after. Millie was a big fan of horse racing and took over management of her husband’s Nebo Lodge Stables following his death.
Initially a listed race, the Millie Fox Stakes was upgraded to a Group 3 event in 2007 and held that status until 2013. For the 2013 edition of the race, it was upgraded to Group 2. From its inception until 2006 the race was held over a distance of 1200m, as opposed to today’s 1300m. The race name has changed slightly over the years, varying from Millie Fox Plate to Millie Fox Handicap, but always retaining the name of Millie Fox.
Notable Millie Fox Stakes winners include Tivoli Dancer (2005), Montana Flyer (2010, 2011), Red Tracer (2012, 2013, 2014), First Seal (2016), In Her Time (2017), Savatiano (2020), and Zougotcha (2024).
