Losesomewinmore ($12) caused a boilover in the 2026 Bobbie Lewis Quality results at Flemington, surging home under Craig Williams to deny Hedged and rank outsider Enuxto in a tight finish and stamp himself as a straight-track specialist to follow into the spring. Sticking to the inside after Williams judged the track “pretty even”, the Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained gelding dug deep with just 53kg on his back to stop the clock in 1:08.98, continuing his superb Flemington record and adding another feature sprint to his résumé. Jolly said the stable’s Flemington base has been a major advantage and confirmed the Gilgai Stakes is the logical next step, noting there’s “no reason to take him around a corner” this prep. Williams, thrilled to deliver a win for long-time supporters David Price and Jenny Chapman, praised the horse’s toughness and placement, saying he “had the guts and determination to win today’s race.” With eight wins from 18 starts and a proven affinity for the straight, Losesomewinmore now shapes as a key player in the upcoming spring sprints.

The Bobbie Lewis Quality is a Group 2 sprinting event held at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne around mid-September on Makybe Diva Stakes Day. Open to horses aged four years and older, the Bobbie Lewis Quality Handicap usually draws a field of talented sprinters. Run down the famous Flemington straight over 1200m, the Bobbie Lewis Quality is a fast-paced clash with barriers not really a factor in determining the markets at Ladbrokes. There is a total of $300,000 prize money available making it a lucrative lead-up to the Melbourne Group 1 spring sprints.
Horses that run in the Bobbie Lewis Quality usually do so as part of an extended spring campaign. Horses who put on a good show over 1200m and who tend to prefer the straight at Flemington are often entered into this event in the hope of victory on a familiar track. Those runners that are successful in the Bobbie Lewis Quality have a myriad of options to go on to, including possibly Randwick’s $20 million The Everest (1200m) – the richest turf race in the world.
If being kept to shorter distances, Bobbie Lewis Quality graduates often head to Moonee Valley for a race like the Group 1 Mankiato Stakes (1200m).
Bobbie Lewis Quality graduates often back-up in the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes at the same track and distance in early October and Zoutori (2020) was the last to do the double. Two-time Bobbie Lewis Quality winner Zoutori also continued on to win the 2021 Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington the following autumn.
In 2022 the Bobbie Lewis Quality form was franked with the upset winner Baller running third in both the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes and the Group 1 Champions Sprint (1200m) at his next two runs. The form was further franked with the second placed mare Roch ‘N’ Horse also running second in the Gilgai before her shock Champions Sprint win at Flemington over the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
In 2023 Star Patrol won the Bobbie Lewis before saluting next start in the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes. The form was further franked with the runner-up King Of Sparta returning the following summer to take out the $1 million Magic Millions Sprint at the Gold Coast in January of 2024, and the third placed mare Benedetta going on to win the Group 1 The Goodwood in Adelaide in May of 2024.
The 2024 Bobbie Lewis Quality form was franked with the runner-up Skybird returning in the autumn to take out Flemington’s Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning in 2025.
Arkansaw Kid enjoyed back-to-back Bobbie Lewis Quality wins in 2024 and 2025.

2026 Bobbie Lewis Quality Form
The Bobbie Lewis Quality form guide gives punters a complete breakdown of every runner lining up in this key Group 2 1200m straight track sprint at Flemington. It compiles each horse’s recent runs, preferred conditions, straight track stats, sectional strength, jockey/trainer combinations and historical patterns to help punters judge which sprinters are ready to peak down the famous Flemington straight.
What Punters Should Look for on the Bobbie Lewis Quality Form Guide:
- Straight track form — Flemington’s 1200m straight is unique, and punters should prioritise horses proven down the straight or those with strong straight track trial form.
- First-up/second-up profiles — Many Bobbie Lewis winners resume here, so punters should look for sprinters with strong fresh records or those expected to improve sharply at this stage of their preps.
- 1200m stats — Horses with consistent 1200m form, especially at Flemington, are typically well suited to the race’s sustained speed profile.
- Sectional times — Fast closing splits in lead-up runs or trials indicate a horse is ready to handle the straight’s long, building momentum style of racing.
- Track conditions — Flemington can play differently depending on weather and rail position; horses with adaptable form or proven wet track ability gain an edge when conditions shift.
- Map and tempo — Straight track races often feature a split into inside/outside groups. Punters should assess which side of the track is favoured and which runners map to the stronger lane.
- Stable patterns — Big stables like Hayes, O’Brien and Mahertraditionally target this race, and their runners often improve sharply early in the spring.
- Historical trends — Many winners come through races like the Aurie’s Star or The Heath, making those lead-ups key indicators of Bobbie Lewis performance.

Bobbie Lewis Quality History
The Bobbie Lewis Quality is named after celebrated Victorian jockey Bobby Lewis. Born in 1878, Bobby Lewis rode for over forty years and in that time won over 900 races. He retired at the age of 60 in 1938 and was inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in 2002. Bobby Lewis is one of only two jockeys to have won four Melbourne Cups, and he has won more VRC Derbies, VRC Oaks and SAJC St Legers than any other jockey. Bobby Lewis passed away in 1947.
Inaugurated in 1974, the Bobbie Lewis Quality has quite an extensive history of entertaining races and talented winners. The Bobbie Lewis Quality has been known by a variety of names, including the Pat Lalor Quality (1996), Sebel of Melbourne Quality 1200 (1997), Gateway Suites Quality (1998-2000) and Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (2009). Initially a Principal Race, the Bobbie Lewis Quality was upgraded to listed event in 1979 and then a Group 3 event in 1986. In 2015 the Bobbie Lewis Quality was again upgraded to Group 2.
Notable Bobbie Lewis Quality winners include Fiesta Palace (1976), Placid Ark (1988), Hareeba (1994), Titanic Jack (2003), Speediness (2013), and Redkirk Warrior (2017) who went on to win the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning – Newmarket Handicap double at the track the following autumn.
Arkansaw Kid (2024-25) is the latest back-to-back Bobbie Lewis Quality champion.
