All Aged Stakes Tips

Each Way: No. 11 Fangirl
FANGIRL (8) shapes as one of the most appealing Each Way plays in this year’s All Aged Stakes, and the market looks to have underestimated her fresh. Chris Waller’s superstar mare returns from a five-and-a-half-month spell, and few horses boast a better first-up profile — she’s ultra-reliable resuming and absolutely thrives at Randwick, where she’s already claimed multiple Group 1s including last year’s Queen Of The Turf and 7 Stakes. Her form lines are elite, and we haven’t seen her since a brave fourth behind Pride Of Jenni in the Empire Rose during Cup Week, a run that reads superbly for this. The 1400m is right in her wheelhouse, she’s banked over $10 million for a reason, and Ben Melham is riding in terrific touch this autumn. Expect her to settle just off the speed and unleash that trademark late surge down the Randwick rise. With a strong tempo predicted and her closing splits among the best in the field, Fangirl looks beautifully placed to storm into the finish and represents outstanding value in a deep race.

The All Aged Stakes is one of the last races during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival run at Royal Randwick in late April.
Held on the third Saturday in April following the action of The Championships, the Group 1 All Aged Stakes is a weight-for-age race for horses aged three-years-old and over. The race attracts a lot of good middle-distance sprinters eager to combat the 1400m track in hope of winning a share of the $1,500,000 prize money.
Many horses will come from the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m)Â two weeks earlier to try and overcome the extra 200m added to this race.
Trapeze Artist (2018) became the first horse since Bentley Biscuit (2007) to complete the TJ Smith Stakes – All Aged Stakes double.
The 2022 All Aged Stakes form was franked with the third-placed Ellsberg returning in the spring to win the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m), the $1 million Five Diamond Prelude and the inaugural $2 million The Five Diamonds (1800m).
The 2023 All Aged Stakes winner Giga Kick improved on a lead-up second in the TJ Smith Stakes to post his first win since taking out the previous year’s The Everest. He then franked the All Aged Stakes form with a next-up win in Brisbane’s Group 1 Doomben 10,000.
The 2025 All Aged Stakes form was franked with the winner, Jimmysstar, returning that spring for a huge campaign that included a third in The Everest before he won the $3 million Russell Balding Stakes and Group 1 CF Orr. The All Aged runner-up, Joliestar, also went on to win a host of subsequent races including Brisbane’s Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup that winter, while the third placed Sunshine In Paris was also won at elite-level taking out the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 at her next start.
Jimmysstar returned to run third to Beiwacht in the 2026 All Aged Stakes trifecta.

All Aged Stakes History
First raced in 1866, the All Aged Stakes was won by Falcon over a distance of 1600m. This track length remained the same until 2004 when it was changed to its current length of 1400m.
The All Aged Stakes has been won by plenty of top-quality horses starting with Carbine and his consecutive wins in 1889 and 1890. Another 48 years later, Ajax broke this record by winning the All Aged Stakes three years in a row in 1938 – 1940.
Two-time Melbourne Cup winner Peter Pan took out the race in 1935 and the legendary Tulloch also won the race in 1958. The New Zealand horse Rough Habit won the All Aged Stakes in 1992 and 1993, however his greatest victories took place at the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.
Beiwacht (2026) was the last three-year-old All Aged Stakes winner.
