The All Aged Stakes is the last Group 1 weight-for-age race of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival taking place at Royal Randwick in April after the action of The Championships.
The All Aged Stakes is one of the last races during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival run at Royal Randwick in late April.
Held on the third Saturday in April following the action of The Championships, the Group 1 All Aged Stakes is a weight-for-age race for horses aged three-years-old and over. The race attracts a lot of good middle distance sprinters eager to combat the 1400m track in hope of winning a share of the $1,500,000 prize money. The 2020 All Aged Stakes offered a reduced $480,000 in prize money due to the COVID-19 pandemic before the stakes returned to $600,000 in 2021 and then boosted to $1.5 million in 2023.
Many horses will come from the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) two weeks earlier to try and overcome the extra 200m added to this race.
Trapeze Artist (2018) became the first horse since Bentley Biscuit (2007) to complete the TJ Smith Stakes – All Aged Stakes double.
The 2022 All Aged Stakes form was franked with the third-placed Ellsberg returning in the spring to win the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m), the $1 million Five Diamond Prelude and the inaugural $2 million The Five Diamonds (1800m).
The 2023 All Aged Stakes winner Giga Kick improved on a lead-up second in the TJ Smith Stakes to post his first win since taking out the previous year’s $15 million The Everest.
The next edition of the All Aged Stakes ran on Saturday April 15, 2023 offering $1.5 million in stakes for the first time and was won in impressive fashion by the three-year-old favourite Giga Kick ($2.90F).

Intriguing edition of the All Aged with a host of varying form lines to consider. The fresh danger at a backable price though is the Annabel Neasham-trained Zaaki. The evergreen eight-year-old was last seen successfully defending his title at headquarters in the spring in the VRC Champions Stakes over 2000m. He has been brought-on fitness-wise with two Sydney trials including an eye-catching hit-out at Randwick earlier in the month. Zaaki has a lovely first-up record (9:4-2-1) and at his last 1400m run won the Group 2 Tramway on a Heavy (10) here by nearly two lengths last September. Gets the run of the race from barrier six with J. Mac in the saddle. Big chance.
The All Aged Stakes field attracts a quality line-up of weight-for-age stars each autumn, many looking at heading to Adelaide for races like the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) the following month, and is released the Wednesday before the race.
The All Aged Stakes 2023 final field and barriers are set for release by Racing NSW on the Wednesday of race week and will be published below.
The 2023 All Aged Stakes field features a quality line-up weight-for-age stars including The Everest champion Giga Kick out wide and the resuming Annabel Neasham-trained dual Mackinnon Stakes hero Zaaki drawn mid-field.
