The Group 1 action of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival comes to a close at Randwick on Saturday including the meeting’s feature, the All Aged Stakes 2025, where TJ Smith Stakes winning grey Briasa is favourite to salute again.

The Team Hawkes trained four-year-old was excellent at the track on Day 1 of The Championships carrying 58.5kg to a narrow but convincing elite level win in the TJ.
He now goes up to 1400m third-up and fit with his other autumn performance being a close fourth fresh in Rosehill’s Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m).
Briasa heads the latest markets at Ladbrokes.com.au on this year’s Group 1 $1.5 million All Aged Stakes field at $3.80 with the ultra-consistent son of Smart Missile chasing his eighth win at career start number 10.
The 1400m doesn’t look outside his reach after he won the Group 2 The Hunter (1300m) at Newcastle last November, and he has improved notably proving a genuine Group 1 horse this campaign.
Trapeze Artist (2018) was the last horse to complete the TJ Smith Stakes / All Aged Stakes double and there’s money for Briasa to be the next jumping from barrier four with Tyler Schiller retaining the ride.
The danger occupying the second line of All Aged Stakes betting is Ciaron Maher‘s Per Incanto gelding Jimmysstar at $6 chasing his second Group 1 win this campaign.
Fresh the classy chestnut overcame a wide barrier at Caulfield to win the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) on Blue Diamond Day, and he has been solid in his two subsequent runs also in elite grade.
At The Valley he ran two lengths back third in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) before a fourth to Briasa in the TJ Smith.
With winning form up to 1500m and a great 1400m strike-rate (7:2-3-0) he presents as a genuine shot to turn the tables on his last start conqueror now from gate sixth with Ethan Brown to ride.
It is a tight top half of the markets with a further two horses also at single figure All Aged Stakes odds with Chris Waller‘s Group 1 winning mare Joliestar ($6.50) and Godolphin‘s class colt Broadsiding ($6.50).
Looking to go back-to-back for the mares following Magic Time’s All Aged win in 2024, Zoustar four-year-old Joliestar is looking to bounce back after running ninth here in the TJ last time out.
She won the Group 1 Newmarket with 56kg in style down the iconic Flemington ‘Straight Six’ the start prior and was only two lengths beaten in the Sydney elite level last start.
Zac Lloyd is riding in terrific form this season and comes aboard Joliestar on Saturday from barrier nine looking to hand Waller his third win in the race.
The three-year-olds were in winning form two years ago with Giga Kick (2023) and there is money suggesting the James Cummings trained Too Darn Hot colt Broadsiding can be the next.
He is fourth-up and flying having run top two in all his lead-up runs this campaign including a Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) victory over subsequent five-length ATC Derby winning filly Aeliana.
The youngster will need to be good dropping notably back in distance here, but he’s got a great 1400m record (4:3-0-1), has the master hoop James McDonald aboard and is drawn to get a dream run from barrier three.
For value, the best of the double-digit fancies include the defending champion Magic Time ($11) looking to become the first dual winner since Sunline (2000 & 2002), Group 1 winning Brave Smash mare Kimochi ($13), and Tony Gollan’s resuming Queenslander Antino ($14) with the rails run.
The 2025 Schweppes All Aged Stakes is set to run as Randwick Race 8 at 3:40pm (AEST) on Saturday.
