The punters are having a hard time settling on an outright favourite in All Aged Stakes 2026 betting in Sydney this weekend with Jimmysstar and Angel Capital fighting for top spot in the markets on the closing Group 1 of the autumn carnival.

A double shot of elite racing action headlines the Randwick line-up this weekend including the meeting’s marquee event with a talented 14-horse field gathered for the Group 1 $1.5 million All Aged Stakes (1400m).
Current All Aged Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au have two runners battling for favouritism with the reigning champion Jimmysstar and Chris Waller‘s progressive Angel Capital both installed at $4.80 for the win.
The Ciaron Maher-trained Per Incanto gelding, Jimmysstar, won last year’s race defeating Joliestar and is not out to go back-to-back for the first time since Rough Habit (1992-93).
The now six-year-old comes via the same two lead-up races as last autumn but hasn’t run in the money since his spring win in the Group 1 CF Orr.
Fresh he was seventh to Cindy Alderson’s The Quokka contender Jigsaw in the Group 1 William Reid in Melbourne before a last start fifth when 2.28 length off Joliestar in the Group 1 TJ Smith here at Royal Randwick.
Third-up and fit now he looks set to peak for his title defence, although he’s drawn wide out in gate 12 for regular rider Ethan Brown.
While he doesn’t quite bring the same spark he carried into this race last year, he’s still very much in the mix and the wide draw does give him the option to roll forward and take luck out of the equation.
The danger, Angel Capital, meanwhile is drawn better in gate four with the country’s most winningest Group 1 hoop James McDonald in the saddle.
The Harry Angel four-year-old is winless at Randwick but has a solid 1400m strike-rate (5:2-1-0).
His form out of Melbourne this prep has been impressive when third in the Group 1 Newmarket down the Flemington straight behind Caballus before a last start William Reid second only a half-length beaten at a big price after a brilliant late charge.
He looks ready to strike now after announcing himself when storming home from near last to finish a narrow runner-up over 1200m at Caulfield, and the rise to 1400m is exactly what this classy entire has been crying out for.
He’s been kept sharp with a recent 900m trial placing, and his powerful finishing burst should be even more effective over the longer trip.
Expect him to settle back, build momentum from the bend and be one of the strongest closers in the race.
A further two runners are under double figures at time of publish with another from the five-horse Waller contingent, Beiwacht ($6.50), and Clayton Douglas‘s former The Everest hero Giga Kick ($7.50).
Nash Rawiller will partner Bivouac colt Beiwacht from a favourable barrier two draw with the youngster out to become the first three-year-old All Aged Stakes champ since Giga Kick in 2023.
Proven over the 1400m after his four-length romp home in last year’s Golden Rose at Rosehill in record time, he presents fit fourth-up and ready to fire on the weekend.
After being found out fresh running last in the Black Caviar Lightning at Flemington, he improved next-up when second to Joliestar in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m).
At his latest he came up against the then undefeated Autumn Glow in the Group 1 George Ryder (1500m) on Slipper Day to cross sixth at a blowout price, and he’s back in distance now.
He’s the expected leader and ticks a few boxes to go all-the-way.
Giga Kick is chasing his second All Aged trophy after his 2023 success as a three-year-old and the now six-year-old son of Scissor Kick looks to have genuine claims.
Rachel King will ride from gate seven and is the fifth jockey in as many starts to take the reins on the $15.49 million earner.
Last seen in the winner’s stall when best handling a Heavy Flemington track to take out the Group 1 Champions Sprint in the spring, Giga Kick has had three runs this campaign with his best being a last start second in the TJ.
He returns to the 1400m, and the champion sprinter looks right on track to strike again.
His three runs this preparation have all been top-class, highlighted by a brilliant late surge for second in the G1 TJ Smith Stakes here at Randwick, where he was taking ground off them with every stride.
He maps to land midfield with cover, relax into a rhythm and unleash that trademark finishing burst when the race opens up.
Outside of the single figure fancies the best of the rest and potential value for the upset include the Hawkes Racing-trained grey Briasa ($10), the rails-drawn Pericles ($10) to be ridden by the evergreen Craig Williams and the resuming Waller-trained multiple Group 1 winning mare Fangirl ($10).
The 2026 All Aged Stakes is set to run as Randwick Race 9 at 4:20pm (AEST) as the penultimate event on the Saturday race card.
