2026 The All-Star Mile Results

Stay tuned for the official 2026 All-Star Mile results and finishing order at Flemington on Saturday March 7, 2026 and to see what runners are heading towards the Australian Cup.

  • 1st: No. 1 Tom Kitten ($3.90)
  • 2nd: No. 4 Evaporate
  • 3rd: No. 8 Pride Of Jenni

Winning Margin: 0.35 lengths

Winning Time: 1:33.73

Tom Kitten ($3.90) raced his way into the Australian racing history books with a successful title defence in the 2026 All-Star Mile results at Flemington. Given a peach of a ride by Craig Williams, the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Godolphin galloper came from third on the turn to move up and narrowly edge out Evaporate (2nd) and the front-running Pride Of Jenni (3rd) for his historical second victory in the feature. The team are now looking at either the Group 1 Australian Cup, for which he’s the all-in favourite, on March 28 back at HQ or a more likely trip to Sydney for the $4 million Doncaster Mile on April 4 with Ladbrokes.com.au paying a generous $15 for him to win.

The All-Star Mile Tips

Stay tuned for our exclusive The All-Star Mile 2026 Tips and best bets on the lucrative mile race this autumn!

Each Way: No. 4 Evaporate

EVAPORATE (8) looks one of the more overlooked runners in this year’s All-Star Mile, and there’s a strong case he’s travelling far better than the market suggests. The Lindsay Park-trained Per Incanto four-year-old hasn’t won since his narrow Group 3 Sandown Stakes victory last spring, but his form since has been consistently elite, finishing second in the Toorak Handicap, third in the Golden Eagle behind Autumn Glow, and third again in the CF Orr behind Jimmysstar. His autumn return in the Futurity was another high-quality effort, finishing less than a length from Pericles and clearly indicating he’ll take improvement from the run. The rise to the mile is ideal (5:3-1-1), his second-up record is excellent (4:2-1-0), and while he’s only had one previous look at Flemington, he’s a genuine class performer capable of keeping in touch with this field when the pressure goes on. A proven 1600m specialist who will relish the extra furlong, he’s the type who can produce a big run at odds and give this a real shake.

The All-Star Mile News

The All-Star Mile is one of the richest races added to the Australian Racing calendar for the first time in 2019 as part of the growing number of Special Condition races held down under.

An Australian first, The All-Star Mile began as a unique initiative for Racing Victoria and was the only event in the country that punters got the chance to vote horses into the field before the selection process was revamped ahead of the 2024 edition.

The All-Star Mile prize money was reduced from $5 million to $3.75 in 2024 and in 2025 was cut to $2.5 million in stakes.

In 2026 the race will offered $2 million in total prize money.

The All-Star Mile remains a key feature of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival held in early or mid-March, and in 2025 takes place at Flemington Racecourse on the same day as the time-honoured Newmarket Handicap.

Run at the different major racetracks in Melbourne, the inaugural The All-Star Mile was contested at Flemington and won by star Tasmanian-trained filly and last start Australian Guineas champ Mystic Journey.

The 2020 edition of The All-Star Mile ran at Caulfield Racecourse, the weight-for-age event run over 1600m by a capacity field of 15 starters plus four emergencies.

In 2021 The All-Star Mile was run at The Valley and won by the NSW-trained Mugatoo.

In 2022 the event returned to Flemington Racecourse, with Headquarters the first track to host the race twice and was won by the favourite Zaaki.

The 2022 All-Star Mile form was franked with the winner Zaaki going on to perform well in a host of subsequent races over the following 12 months including third placings in the Group 1 Doomben Cup, Underwood Stakes and Caulfield Stakes. He also finished fourth in the 2022 Cox Plate results before successfully defending his title in the Group 1 VRC Champions Stakes over the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The All-Star Mile runner-up from 2022, I’m Thunderstruck, further franked the form running second next-up in Sydney’s Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m). He returned that spring and ran second in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes before winning the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes over the Flemington mile. I’m Thunderstruck also ran second in that year’s Caulfield Stakes and Cox Plate.

The 2023 All-Star Mile returned to Moonee Valley Racecourse, The Valley the second course following Flemington to host the race twice and was won by the previous year’s fourth placegetter Mr Brightside for Lindsay Park.

Mr Brightside went on to firmly frank the All-Star Mile form winning his next four starts including the Group 1 Doncaster Mile, Group 1 Memsie Stakes, and Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes. He also placed second three times on the trot after his Makybe Diva success finishing runner-up in the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes, Group 1 Cox Plate, and Group 1 Champions Mile during a stellar spring prep.

The 2024 All-Star Mile took place at Caulfield Racecourse for the second time.

A revamped selection process for The All-Star Mile in 2024 also saw eight ‘Win and You’re In’ races offering the winners a guaranteed run, before the event became a Group 1 race ahead of the 2025 edition.

The race now takes place prior to Flemington’s Group 1 $3 million Australian Cup (2000m) with a big prize on offer in total for the WFA double.

Mr Brightside was denied back-to-back wins in 2024 when running second as the beaten short-priced favourite behind ace mare Pride Of Jenni.

After winning the 2024 All-Star Mile, Pride Of Jenni ran second next-up in the Australian Cup and then made history saluting in Sydney’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes by over 6 lengths.

Mr Brightside was narrowly denied a second All-Star Mile win in 2025 when contesting the event for the fourth year running to place second behind Tom Kitten.

The 2025 All-Star Mile also produced that year’s Australian Cup champion with Light Infantry Man improving on his lead-up third to win the Flemington, 2000m showdown.

The 2025 All-Star Mile ran for the first time as a Group 1 event at Flemington Racecourse and was won by Tom Kitten.

Tom Kitten returned to make history in 2026 becoming the first back-to-back winner of the event.

The All-Star Mile History

The All-Star Mile was first contested in 2019 and took place at Flemington Racecourse.

The race rotates around the three major metropolitan racetracks in Melbourne going to Caulfield in 2020 and Moonee Valley in 2021. It returned to Flemington in 2022 and then Moonee Valley in 2023 before Caulfield hosts the race for the second time in 2024.

The inaugural The All-Star Mile winner was the Tasmanian-trained filly Mystic Journey who came off an historical Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) victory where she became the first Group 1 winner from Tasmanian in a century.

The second edition of The All-Star Mile took place at a closed Caulfield Racecourse due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The results were dominated by the Perth-trained stablemates Regal Power (1st) and Superstorm (2nd).

The All-Star Mile race conditions changed notably ahead of the 2024 edition moving from a public vote to a more refined process to ensure the quality of runners.

Mr Brightside was $2 favourite to make All-Star Mile history in 2024 with a second victory but was drawn wide and couldn’t match the speed of the event’s sixth champion, Ciaron Maher’s mare Pride Of Jenni.

In 2025 the All-Star Mile will run for the first time as a Group 1 race after officially being upgraded in October of 2024.

Tom Kitten (2025-26) is the sole two-time All-Star Mile champion to date.
