The Anthony & Sam Freedman trained Tentyris ($2.90F) pulled off an enormous effort in the opening Group 1 race on Derby Day at Flemington saluting for the punters by over two lengths in the 2025 Coolmore Stud Stakes results to hand hoop of the hour Mark Zahra a treble. Coolmore Stud Stakes Tips
Stay tuned for our exclusive Coolmore Stud Stakes 2025 Tips on the famous sprint for three-year-olds down the Flemington straight this spring.
To Win: No. 3 Tentyris
TENTYRIS has surged into $4 favouritism for the Coolmore Stud Stakes, and it’s easy to see why punters are locking in early. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained colt has been building beautifully this prep, and from barrier five, he’s drawn to get every chance. Mark Zahra retains the ride for the third straight start — a big plus on Derby Day given his red-hot form. The son of Street Boss kicked off his campaign with a solid third in the Danehill Stakes behind Mcgaw, showing signs of raw talent despite being a touch wayward. He sharpened up next time out, storming home from the back to win the Listed Gothic Stakes at Caulfield under 58.5kg, clocking some sizzling late splits. Now back to set weights over 1200m down the Flemington straight, he’s fitter, focused, and ready to peak. His near miss in the Blue Diamond last autumn stamped him as a Group 1 horse in waiting, and he’s clearly come on as a three-year-old. With the right setup, the right rider, and the right form, Tentyris looks primed to explode — and he might just blow them away.

The Coolmore Stud Stakes, formerly known as the Ascot Vale Stakes, is a Group 1 sprint race for three-year-old horses.
This 1200m set weights race has undergone plenty of changes in the past few years as it has elevated into the premier sprint race for the youngsters during the annual Melbourne Cup Carnival in late October or early November each year. Worth just over $2 million in prize money, the race attracts mainly colts looking to increase their stallion value at stud.
Run on Victoria Derby Day at Flemington Racecourse on the Saturday before Melbourne Cup Day on the first Tuesday of November, the Coolmore Stud Stakes was originally held earlier in the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival as a Group 2. When the name was changed in 2007, the Coolmore Stud Stakes became the first Group 1 sprint race under 1600m for three-year-olds. Raced down the straight at Flemington, many horses are first tested in the 1600m Caulfield Guineas before having to freshen up to return over a shorter 1200m in the Coolmore Stud Stakes.
The Coolmore Stud Stakes shares a bumper race card with two other Group 1 events with the Victoria Derby (2500m) and Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) also taking place at Headquarters.
The form of the 2021 Coolmore Stud Stakes was franked with the winner Home Affairs returning the following autumn to win the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning in 2022 first-up.
The 2022 Coolmore Stud Stakes winning filly In Secret franked the form the following autumn returning to Flemington to beat home the older horses in the 2023 Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m).
