2026 Futurity Stakes Results

Stay tuned for the official 2026 Futurity Stakes results and finishing order on Blue Diamond Day and see what horses have the All-Star Mile target in sight!

  • 1st: No. 1 Pericles ($5.50)
  • 2nd: No. 2 Buckaroo
  • 3rd: No. 7 Treasurethe Moment

Winning Margin: 0.75 lengths

Winning Time: 1:22.61

Pericles ($5.50) set himself up for a clash with the fellow Godolphin raced Tom Kitten in next month’s Group 1 All-Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington after returning an impressive first-up winner in the 2026 Futurity Stakes results at Caulfield on Blue Diamond Day. In his first run since placing second to Ceolwulf in the spring’s Champions Mile (1600m) at HQ, Pericles put the writing on the wall for a big autumn when given a perfectly timed ride by big race specialist Craig Williams to charge down the heavily backed favourite Treasurethe Moment and secure his first elite-level success at his 16th start.

To Win: No. 7 Treasurethe Moment

What a cracking edition of the Futurity Stakes we’ve landed this year — depth everywhere you look and genuine winning chances across the board — but I’m firmly in the corner of the deserved favourite TREASURETHE MOMENT (6), who continues to be a revelation for Matt Laurie. The now four-year-old daughter of Alabama Express has already built an elite résumé with 10 wins from 16 starts, and she absolutely thrives at Caulfield, boasting a 3-1-0 record from four runs at the track. She’s also unbeaten over the 1400m, making this her sweet spot. A brilliant fresh performer (4:2-2-0), she returns chasing her fourth Group 1 victory and is out to go over $4 million in prizemoney. Last campaign she exploded first-up in the G1 Memsie Stakes over this course and distance, unleashing a devastating finish after stalking a brutal tempo. While she didn’t win again that prep, her form was top-class — runner-up in the Caulfield Stakes, a huge Cox Plate third behind Via Sistina, and a luckless fourth in the Champions Mile on a Heavy 9. Her recent trial suggested she’s come back every bit as sharp, and with regular rider Damian Lane back aboard, she simply profiles as the standout. She’s the best horse in the race, and I’m happy to be with her regardless of how short she starts.

Futurity Stakes News

The Futurity Stakes is a Group 1 weight-for-age race traditionally held at Caulfield Racecourse in late February on Blue Diamond Stakes Day each Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival.

Run over a middle sprint distance of 1400m, the country’s best sprinters and milers compete for a chance to win $750,000 in prize money.

There are three Group 1 races held at the meeting with the Futurity Stakes joined by the Group 1 $2 million Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) – Victoria’s premier race for two-year-olds – and the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) for sprinters.

Many horses in the Futurity Stakes field come off an earlier autumn run at Caulfield a fortnight earlier in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m). Recent horses to complete the CF Orr – Futurity Stakes double include Black Heart Bart (2017), Moment Of Change (2014), and All Too Hard (2013).

Mr Brightside (2024) was the last horse to complete the CF Orr Stakes – Futurity Stakes double.

Mr Brightside returned in 2025 to improve on a second in the CF Orr Stakes to successfully defend his Futurity Stakes double.

In 2025 the CF Orr Stakes then moved to the spring in November.

In 2022 Tofane won the CF Orr Stakes before a third in that year’s Futurity Stakes results.

The 2022 Futurity Stakes form was franked with the runner-up Mo’unga returning in the spring to run top three in a host of other Group 1 events including the Makybe Diva Stakes (3rd), Underwood Stakes (2nd) and VRC Champions Stakes (2nd).

In 2023 the Futurity Stakes winner Alligator Blood ran a next-up fourth in The All-Star Mile results. He also returned that spring for a huge campaign that included winning the Underwood Stakes – Caulfield Stakes double.

The 2023 Futurity form was firmly franked by the runner-up Mr Brightside who won the All-Star Mile and Doncaster Mile at his next two starts that campaign.

Mr Brightside also franked the 2024 Futurity form running a next-up second in the All-Star Mile before a host of other top three runs at elite level including victories in that year’s Makybe Diva Stakes and Champions Mile in the spring.

Mr Brightside went back-to-back winning the 2025 Futurity Stakes to become the first dual champion since Niconero (2008-09).

The Futurity Stakes is also a key lead-up race into the Group 1 $2 million All-Star Mile (1600m) which Tom Kitten won in 2025 on the back of a lead-up second in the Futurity.

Futurity Stakes History

Founded in 1897, the Futurity Stakes was first won by Resolute and has so far featured several champion horses including three-time winner Ajax with victories in the 1938 to 1940 Futurity Stakes races. Racing legend Manikato managed one step better by winning the race four times in 1979 to 1981 and again in 1983. Prior to 2006, the Futurity Stakes was a 1400m race which was also held over 1800m in 1979.

The Futurity Stakes results dating back to 2000 are listed in the table below to help with your Futurity Stakes betting selections this season.

In 2023 the Futurity Stakes ran at Sandown with Caulfield undergoing renovations.

Mr Brightside (2024-25) was the last back-to-back Futurity Stakes winner.
