Matt Laurie‘s outstanding triple Group 1 winning mare, Treasurethe Moment, resumes for the autumn in a stellar edition of the Futurity Stakes 2026 and she’s approaching odds-on territory to kick things off with another elite-level win.

We’ve nine final acceptors for this year’s Group 1 $750,000 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Blue Diamond Day, a race that has been won by a host of the country’s best WFA stars over the years including in recent years the likes of Black Heart Bart (2017), Alligator Blood (2023) and back-to-back champ Mr Brightside (2024-25).
This year the punters are coming in a big way for Alabama Express mare Treasurethe Moment who is currently installed as the outright $2 favourite through Ladbrokes.com.au.
The bonny four-year-old has already built an elite résumé with 10 wins from 16 starts, and she absolutely thrives at Caulfield, boasting a 3-1-0 record from four runs at the track.
She’s also unbeaten over the 1400m, making this her sweet spot.
A brilliant fresh performer (4:2-2-0), she returns chasing her fourth Group 1 victory and is out to go over $4 million in prizemoney.
Last campaign she exploded first-up in the G1 Memsie Stakes over this course and distance, unleashing a devastating finish after stalking a brutal tempo.
While she didn’t win again that prep, her form was top-class — runner-up in the Caulfield Stakes, a huge Cox Plate third behind Via Sistina, and a luckless fourth in the Champions Mile on a Heavy 9.
Her recent trial suggested she’s come back every bit as sharp, and with regular rider Damian Lane back aboard, she simply profiles as the standout.
Outside of the firm favourite the other best in betting paying Futurity Stakes odds of $6.50 at time of publish is Evaporate.
The Ben, Will & JD Hayes-trained Per Incanto four-year-old is also racing first-up and has support in the markets despite being winless fresh from four resuming runs.
He ran a close fourth under 2 lengths off Mr B in the event last year and was consistent all spring at the top level with genuine placings in the Toorak (2nd), Golden Eagle (3rd) and most recently the CF Orr (3rd) in mid-November behind Jimmysstar.
His rider in the Orr, Jamie Melham, is back aboard on Saturday and following a recent Werribee trial win at the start of the month, the Hayes boys are confident of a solid return from one of their most consistent gallopers.
The Bjorn Baker-trained Pericles ($7) is another standout in the markets chasing his first victory since his Group 2 Tramway win fresh in Sydney last campaign.
He’s winless from five previous attempts here at Caulfield including an eighth in last year’s Futurity results but after ending his spring with a second in the Champions Mile on Heavy going he’s being kept safe for this.
Rounding out the single figure fancies at $9.50 is Mark Walker‘s early Futurity Stakes market mover Watch Me Rock.
The ultra-consistent Perth expat has his 21st start here and is out to take his wins up to 12 following on from a successful bid over on the country’s west coast late last year.
He won WA’s Group 1 Railway Stakes over the mile at Ascot before a second in the Northerly and has trialled up nicely since changing stables.
The 1400m looks ideal for him on Saturday (8:4-1-1) as he debuts for Walker from the inside alley with the ‘Wizard of the West’, William Pike, over in Melbourne for the ride.
The Chris Waller-trained NZ Oaks winner from last March Leica Lucy ($10) and Feroce ($11) presenting fit second-up off a devastatingly close second to Tom Kitten in the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan a fortnight ago shape-up as the potential value runners at longer odds for an upset.
The 2026 Futurity Stakes is set to run as Caulfield Race 7 at 3:40pm (AEDT) as one of three Melbourne Group 1 races this Saturday.
