2026 Golden Slipper Results

Stay tuned for the official 2026 Golden Slipper results and finishing order at Rosehill on Saturday March 21, 2026.

  • 1st: No. 3 Guest House ($11)
  • 2nd: No. 12 Streisand
  • 3rd: No. 8 Music Time

Winning Margin: 1.37 lengths

Winning Time: 1:10.53

Guest House ($11) proved too strong for his rivals in Sydney with the progressive Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained Home Affairs colt getting the gap late to fly home in the 2026 Golden Slipper results at Rosehill on Saturday. It was the first Slipper for Price, with jockey Zac Lloyd giving the Victorian raider a peach of a ride to frank the form out of Melbourne. Having run third in the Blue Diamond last start, Guest House was able to turn the tables on the Blue Diamond winning filly Streisand who finished second in the Slipper with the Black Opal winner out of Canberra, Music Time, third.

To Win: No. 4 Warwoven

WARWOVEN (14) shapes as a massive winning chance in the 2026 Golden Slipper, and the market clearly agrees with the Bjorn Baker colt holding his spot on the second line of betting despite drawing out in gate 14. The wide alley shouldn’t scare punters off — not when he’s backing up seven days after a dominant Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes victory at the same track and trip, and plenty of recent Slipper winners have come from wide alleys. The son of Sword Of State has been a model of professionalism in his four-start career, winning three of them, and Rachel King sticks after partnering him in every run so far. She produced a perfectly judged ride last weekend, slotting him in from a tricky draw before unleashing that sharp turn of foot to put the race away by nearly a length. Warwoven has clearly come through the run bouncing, and history is on his side too. Shinzo completed the Pago Pago/Slipper double in 2023, and there’s strong early support suggesting Warwoven is well placed to become the next colt to pull off the feat. With tactical speed, race-day toughness, and a rider who knows him inside out, he looks ready to peak again on the biggest two-year-old stage of them all.

Golden Slipper Stakes News

The Golden Slipper Stakes is one of the premier races of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and is also the richest two-year-old race in the world. Held in late March at Rosehill Gardens, the 1200m sprint event is currently worth a lucrative $5 million in prize money and is the feature event on Golden Slipper Day.

A total of five elite level autumn races take place at the meeting with the Golden Slipper joined by the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m), Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m), the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m), and the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) for three-year-olds.

A number of traditional lead-ups to the Golden Slipper field offer a ballot exemption to the winning two-year-olds including the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) held in late February, the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) run at Randwick on Guineas Day, and the Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m), and Group 3 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) run the week before.

Shinzo (2023) became the first horse since Stratum (2005) to complete the Pago Pago Stakes – Golden Slipper double on the short seven-day turnaround.

Their positioning two weeks before the Golden Slipper Stakes makes the Todman Stakes and Reisling Stakes the best guides to the Group 1 in recent years.

Following the Golden Slipper betting the best two-year-olds may back-up at Royal Randwick during ‘The Championships’ in April and contest the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m). In 2016 Yankee Rose ran second in the Golden Slipper before winning the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes. Three years later, Microphone also improved on a Golden Slipper second ahead of his Sires’ Produce victory in 2019.

Fireburn (2022) was the last two-year-old to complete the Golden Slipper – Inglis Sires’ double. She further franked the form also finishing runner-up in that autumn’s Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m). The 2022 Golden Slipper third placed filly, Coolangatta, meanwhile went on to win the Group 1 AJ Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley later that spring.

The Golden Slipper is also part of the “Golden Slam” for horses that continues with the Golden Rose for three-year-olds and The Golden Eagle for four-year-olds.

Note: The 2021 Golden Slipper Stakes was postponed until Saturday March 27th, 2021, due to heavy rainfall and unsafe track conditions at Rosehill Gardens.

The 2023 Golden Slipper Stakes form was franked with the winner Shinzo returning in the spring for a third in that year’s Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington. The Slipper runner-up, Cylinder, meanwhile was third in that year’s Golden Rose trifecta in September.

In 2024 the Golden Slipper results saw Lady Of Camelot become the latest filly to win improving on her lead-up Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes second in Melbourne to hand co-trainer Gai Waterhouse a record extending eighth Golden Slipper trophy.

Fillies saluted in the Golden Slipper for the sixth time in nine years with Marhoona in 2025.

The 2025 Golden Slipper Stakes form was franked with the runner-up, Wodeton, going on to also place second in that year’s Golden Rose while. The third placed filly Tempted meanwhile won the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes at her next start before returning for a big spring campaign that saw her win the Group 2 Run to the Rose, finish third in the Golden Rose trifecta and finish runner-up to Hong Kong champion Ka Ying Rising in the $20 million The Everest.

In 2026 it was the Blue Diamond Stakes form out of Melbourne that held up in the Golden Slipper with the third placegetter out of that, Guest House, saluting at $11 while the Blue Diamond winning filly Streisand ran a brave second.

Waterhouse won her record extending eighth Golden Slipper and her second in partnership with Adrian Bott in 2024 with Lady Of Camelot ($6.50), while their 2024 favourite Storm Boy ran third.

There was a double-figure Golden Slipper winner in 2026 with Guest House ($11), while that year’s favourite Chayan ($5.50) finished four lengths back eighth.

Golden Slipper Stakes History

Originally worth 20,000 pounds in prize money, the Golden Slipper Stakes was first run in 1957 and was won by Todman.

Jockey Shane Dye and Ron Quinton have been the most successful jockeys in Golden Slipper history. Quinton won the race with Marscay (1982), Sir Dapper (1983), Rory’s Jester (1985) and Marauding (1987), while Dye won the race on four consecutive occasions; piloting Courtza (1989), Canny Lad (1990), Tierce (1991), and Burst (1992) to victory.

Renowned trainer Tommy J. Smith won the race with six horses taking out the Group 1 event with Fairy Walk (1971), John’s Hope (1972), Hartshill (1974), Toy Show (1975), Bounding Away (1986), and Star Watch (1988). The fastest winning time was recorded in 2004 when Dance Hero won in 1 minute and 8.6 seconds, while Canny Lad recorded the slowest winning race time in 1990 with a time 1 minute and 15.41 seconds.

The Golden Slipper began as a Principle race from 1957 – 1978 before gaining its current Group 1 status in 1979. It was held over six furlongs until 1972 and then officially 1200m with the metric conversion coming in from 1973 onwards.

From 2009 – 2014 the Golden Slipper Stakes ran on the first Saturday of April. Prior to 2008 it ran on the Saturday before Good Friday. It now runs in March leading up to the two-day ‘The Championships’ on the first two Saturdays of April.

Notable recent Golden Slipper winners include Dance Hero (2004), Stratum (2005), Miss Finland (2006) Sebring (2008) Sepoy (2011), Pierro (2012), and Capitalist (2016).

In both 2017 and 2018 the Golden Slipper trifecta was an all-filly affair.

In 2020 co-trainer Gai Waterhouse celebrated her record seventh success and first in partnership with Adrian Bott when the favourite Farnan saluted in front of a spectator free grandstand due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She won again posting her eighth Golden Slipper victory in 2024 with Lady Of Camelot.

In 2021 the original Golden Slipper Stakes race day was abandoned due to heavy rainfall and unsafe track conditions and postponed to the following Saturday.

The 2022 Golden Slipper winner Shinzo handed Sydney’s premier horseman Chris Waller with his maiden win in the world’s richest race for two-year-olds off a gun ride by international visitor Ryan Moore.

Marhoona (2025) is the latest filly to win the Golden Slipper Stakes.
