The early money is coming for the airborne Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained filly Sheza Alibi who is nearly odds-on favouritism to post her fifth win on the trot in the Doncaster Mile 2026 at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

The Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival hits top gear this weekend with four elite level races on Day 1 of The Championships including the Group 1 $4 million Doncaster Mile (1600m) which has drawn 16 final acceptors.
Sitting top of the latest Doncaster Mile odds at $2 through Ladbrokes.com.au is Saxon Warrior filly Sheza Alibi who returns to the same track and trip she beat the home the boys over in the Randwick Guineas on Mach 7.
On a roll having won her past four starts, the bonnie three-year-old is now out to join Celestial Legend (2024) as the latest to complete the Randwick Guineas / Doncaster Mile double.
Despite a sticky gate 13 draw, which hasn’t produced a Doncaster Mile winner since Sacred Falls (2014), she remains the clear top elect to extend her picket fence with Jamie Melham coming aboard for the ride.
History is against Sheza Alibi this weekend with the mighty Sunline (1999) the last filly to win the Doncaster Mile, but she’s sure to relish a notable weight drop from 54.5kg last time out to just 49kg on Saturday.
The danger occupying the second line of Doncaster Mile betting this weekend at $5.50 drawn the opposite end of the field with the rails run from barrier one is the Chris Waller-trained Autumn Boy.
Waller is just one win away from equalling the trainer’s record in the event currently co-held by Tommy Smith and his daughter Gai Waterhouse with seven victories apiece.
It’s been a decade since Waller collected his sixth Doncaster Mile trophy with Winx in 2016 but there’s support for his three-year-old The Autumn Sun colt Autumn Boy to be the next.
Getting in on a nice 52kg allocation, Autumn Boy was runner-up to Sheza Alibi in the Randwick Guineas before relishing a rise in trip to claim victory in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on March 21 by nearly two lengths.
Winner of the Caulfield Guineas in the spring, he now drops back to a mile, and the bookies are keeping him safe to handle the drop in distance.
Waller launches a triple-pronged attack on the Doncaster Mile field in 2026 also saddling-up Militarize ($51) who is winless since his 2023 Golden Rose success and the better fancied Sixties ($13) drawn in barriers 10 and 16 respectively.
Sixties has suffered an early blow with the carpark draw but remains a standout in the field having won three of his past four starts.
The three-year-old Flying Artie colt was strong in Melbourne earlier this prep winning the Group 3 CS Hayes before his third to Observer in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington.
At his latest he travelled north for the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on March 14 which he won as the odds-on favourite putting the writing on the wall for his Doncaster bid.
The other best in betting at $15 for the win is the Joe Pride-trained Attica.
Yet another of the three-year-old brigade taking on the older milers in Saturday’s feature, the class Lonhro colt has a lovely Randwick strike rate so far (3:2-0-1).
He won the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) here last October and was third second-up in the Randwick Guineas trifecta before his last start eighth in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) behind Autumn Glow on Golden Slipper Day.
Returning to his preferred Randwick track and coming back from 56kg to 50kg put him right in the mix to bounce back this weekend with Andrew Adkins retaining the ride from a favourable barrier three draw.
Other notable hopes in the Doncaster Mile line-up this autumn include Ciaron Maher‘s 58.5kg topweight Gringotts ($17) coming off a George Ryder second, Pride’s Exosphere five-year-old Headley Grange ($17) and the Bjorn Baker-trained recent Futurity Stakes champ Pericles ($19).
The 2026 Doncaster Mile is scheduled as Randwick Race 8 at 4:35pm (AEDT) on Saturday’s huge 10-race Sydney card.
