The Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) for two-year-olds is the headline race on Golden Slipper Day run on a day for racing purists on a Saturday in late March annually.
The Golden Slipper Stakes results over the past decade have been dominated by single-figure fancies in Golden Slipper betting. The latest double-figure Golden Slipper winners to score an upset are Phelan Ready ($26 in 2009), followed a decade later by Kiamichi ($26 in 2019) and then fellow filly Fireburn ($12 in 2022) and the Chris Waller-trained colt Shinzo ($16 in 2023).
