The event is a 1100m set weights sprint for two-year-olds nominated to the Inglis Race Series that were offered for sale at any Inglis Yearling Sale.
It is the Inglis equivalent to the $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) held at the Gold Coast in January.
The event underwent a number of changes ahead of the 2019 running when it was renamed from the Inglis Classic to the Inglis Millennium with prize money boosted to $2 million. The previous year the distance was reduced from 1200m to 1100m.
The Inglis Millennium currently takes place as the feature race at the meeting and is accompanied on the card by the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m).
To date Castelvecchio, who scored an upset at 20/1 when the event was held at Warwick Farm in 2019, is the most notable Inglis Millennium winner as he went on to frank the form with victories in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) that year and the 2020 Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) as a three-year-old.
The 2023 Inglis Millennium form was franked with the winning filly Learning To Fly going on to take out the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) at her next race before losing her rider in the Golden Slipper that autumn.
The 2025 Inglis Millennium winner Rivellino won the Group 2 Skyline Stakes at his next start, while the form was further franked with the runner-up Within The Law going on to place top three in a host of subsequent top-level races including the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (2nd) and Group 1 Flight Stakes (2nd).
The Inglis Millennium 2026 ran on Saturday February 7, 2026 at Royal Randwick and was won by Chris Waller’s undefeated Snitzel colt Fireball ($4.60F) who got up late for the punters.

2026 Inglis Millennium Tips
Stay tuned for our insider Inglis Millennium 2026 Tips on the early Sydney autumn event this season.
To Win: No. 4 Fireball
FIREBALL (3) has tightened into equal favouritism for the Inglis Millennium and looks every bit the colt to beat in what’s a wide-open edition. Barrier three is a gift and having James McDonald take the reins only strengthens his case, with the Chris Waller-trained son of Snitzel mapping for an ideal run just behind the speed. He was impressive on debut at Rosehill in November, lumping 58kg and still putting a length on them over 1100m, and his recent Randwick trial suggested he’s come back sharper and stronger. There was plenty of determination in the way he surged from midfield to score first-up, and with natural improvement plus a perfect draw, he’s poised to hit the line hard again and keep that unbeaten record intact.
