The Magic Millions Maiden Plate is a set weights race run at the Gold Coast Racecourse in January as part of the prestigious $10 million Gold Coast Magic Millions Race Day.

Offering $250,000 in total prize money the 1200m race accompanies a line-up of more lucrative features on the day including the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m), $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) and the $1 million Magic Millions Cup (1400m).

The Gold Coast Magic Millions Maiden Plate is open only to Magic Millions graduates and who are yet to post a career win.

After a run in the race, horses may continue onto the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and contest an event like the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Randwick in early February or the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill a fortnight later. In 2016 the MM Maiden Plate third placegetter Catch A Fire went on to win the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) in Melbourne the following month.

The Magic Millions Maiden Plate 2021 ran at the Gold Coast on Saturday January 16, 2020 and was won by the John O’Shea-trained filly Newsreader.
