The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained colt Fully Lit is favourite to make it two-from-two and continue an unbeaten start to his career in Saturday’s Inglis Millennium 2024.
The Sydney racing action on Saturday at Royal Randwick is headlined by an untapped field of two-year-olds facing off in the lucrative $2 million Inglis Millennium (1100m).
A bumper field is gathered for Restricted Listed showdown and the latest Inglis Millennium betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au have Fully Lit on top at $3.50.
The son of Hellbent has work to do from a nasty outside alley (barrier 17), but after an impressive debut victory last time out the bookies are taking no chances.
Regan Bayliss retains the ride after partnering the up-and-comer to a 2.8 length victory at Rosehill over 1100m on January 20.
The Waterhouse/Bott stable are also represented in the Inglis Millennium field this year by Snitzel colt Trunk ($8.50), second on debut last month at Geelong, drawn better in gate five for jockey Tim Clark.
Despite the large number of acceptors there are just three other juveniles under double-figures for the win including the early market mover Rue De Royale ($7.50 into $4.60) prepared by Tony & Calvin McEvoy.
Chad Schofield partners the nicely-bred Per Incanto colt from barrier 10 first-up with Rue De Royale having his third career start.
The youngster is out to break his maiden status fresh after two good runs last campaign finishing fourth on debut in the Inglis Banner (1000m) at The Valley before a second to Shangri La Express at Rosehill in November’s $1 million Golden Gift (1100m).
The Ciaron Maher-trained Odinson ($6) drawn a treat in gate four and another last start winner in El Mozillo ($8.50) for Kelly Schweida complete the single-figure fancies.
Night Of Thunder colt Odinson was third on debut narrowly beaten at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m).
He franked that form and got a win on the board here at the Randwick track in December however overcoming barrier 13 of 13 in the Inglis Nursery (1000m).
El Morzillo meanwhile is the best fancied of the fillies with the Brisbane-based grey daughter of Star Witness a Black-Type runner-up from December who comes off a good Sunshine Coast victory on January 27.
The 2024 Inglis Millennium is scheduled to run as Randwick Race 7 at 4:00pm (AEDT) on Saturday’s 10-race card in Sydney with full markets from Ladbrokes.com.au available by clicking here.
