2016 Cox Plate Day Scratchings & Track Report

Cox Plate Day 2016 lights up Moonee Valley Racecourse today, Saturday October 22, with a bumper 10-race card headlined by the showdown between Winx and Hartnell in the $3 million Group 1 W.S. Cox Plate (2040m).

There’s rain around in Melbourne today and a top of just 12 degrees, so the Soft (5) track rating at the course proper at the Valley is unlikely to be upgraded opening up the Cox Plate Day results for proven wet-track performers.

Racing kicks off at Moonee Valley this afternoon at 12:10pm and continues through until the card closer at 5:45pm (AEDT).

The meeting’s marquee race – the Cox Plate – jumps at 5:00pm (AEDT) as the penultimate event on the card and the Australasian weight-for-age championship is clear of scratchings.

The original 10-horse Cox Plate field can be had at Enhanced Odds (T&Cs apply) through Ladbrokes.com.au giving punters a bit of value on the glamour mare Winx.

Fixed Win Cox Plate betting has her at $1.85, easing out slightly from $1.80, to go back-to-back.

Her biggest danger is Hartnell, the John O’Shea-trained Turnbull Stakes winning in peak form and firming in from $3.70 to $3.50 to score the upset Cox Plate results.
