Friday the racing action is headlined by the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup 2024 and it is Fawkner Park heading markets on the popular New South Wales country cup race.

Big Dance eligibility for November goes up for grabs in the Listed $200,000 Wagga Wagga Gold Cup (2000m) that has drawn a capacity field.
The latest Wagga Wagga Gold Cup betting markets online at Ladbrokes.com.au have the consistent Annabel Neasham-trained Fawkner Park on top at $4 despite a wide barrier (17) for jockey Tyler Schiller to overcome.
Zoffany five-year-old Fawkner Park is already eligible for The Big Dance race on Melbourne Cup Day in Sydney thanks to his Albury Cup (2000m) win on March 22.
He was enormous there carrying 56.5kg to a big three-length victory and looks a shot at back-to-back Cup victories on Friday going down to 55.5kg.
The danger occupying the second line of Wagga Wagga Gold Cup betting this season at $6.50 is the Bjorn Baker-trained Renaissance Woman jumping from gate 11 with Josh Parr aboard.
The progressive Reliable Man mare is Group 1 performed and the four-year-old was last seen running fifth to Huetor in the Group 3 JRA Plate (2000m) at Randwick on April 20.
She was found out by a wet track there and gets the chance to atone on firmer ground this week.
A host of other stayers are at single-figure Wagga Wagga Gold Cup odds including the Team Hayes-trained Makram ($8) drawn ideally in gate five, the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained 60.5kg top-weight Knights Order ($9) who won the 2022 Sydney Cup but nothing since September that year, and the in-form Cliff House ($9) shooting for a third win on the trot.
The locally-trained Cliff House hails from the Wagga stables of Tim Donnelly and the Starcraft five-year-old looks the value at home in such flying form.
He won the Albury Mile two back before a barnstorming success in the Gundagai Cup (1800m) on Heavy going carrying a hefty 59kg to a nearly five length victory.
The Wagga Wagga Gold Cup is his first 2000m assignment, but based on the ease of his lead-up victory and coming notably back in weight he looks a genuine hope for a home town Cup win.
The 2024 Wagga Wagga Gold Cup is set to run as Race 7 at 4:15pm (AEST) on Friday’s eight-race card with full markets from Ladbrokes.com.au available by clicking here.
