A day for racing purists, Golden Slipper Day 2018 takes centre stage at Rosehill Gardens today and below are the full Sydney Saturday race scratchings and updated track report on the rain-affected course for the meeting headlined by the next-up run of glamour mare Winx.

As predicted, the official Rosehill Track Report is a Heavy (8) rating meaning the mudlarks will be firming in Golden Slipper Day odds at Ladbrokes.com.au even though it is fine in Sydney with no chance of further rain.

One horse the wet going will not affect is Chris Waller’s 16-time Group 1 champion Winx who is undefeated on Heavy tracks (3:3-0-0) and who is out to make history with a third straight win in the Group 1 $1 million George Ryder Stakes (1500m) this afternoon.

The 2018 George Ryder Stakes field faces off as Rosehill Race 5 at 2:45pm (AEDT) and Winx faces just five rivals as the odds-on favourite to extend her incredible winning streak to 24 on the trot.

The meeting’s namesake race is the Group 1 $3.5 million Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) with a field of 16 two-year-olds fighting it out in Race 7 at 4:10pm (AEDT).

On Friday, Enbihaar was officially scratched from the Golden Slipper field paving the way for her stablemate, the fellow Lindsay Park-trained filly Qafila to gain a run in the world’s richest race for juveniles where Sunlight ($4.80) is tipped as the one to beat.

The opening Group 1 race on the card is the Ranvet Stakes (Race 4) where eight remain after the withdrawal of The Taj Mahal, while the Rosehill Guineas 2018 field (Race 6) features the 18 confirmed starters with only the three emergencies coming out.

The race to suffer the most scratchings though is The Galaxy (Race 8) with four out of the sprint clash.
