As one of the bigger middle distance races in the Brisbane Winter Carnival, the A D Hollindale Stakes is a Group 2 weight-for-age race held at the Gold Coast Racecourse. This is one of the biggest events run on the Gold Coast and potentially the biggest outside the Magic Millions Carnival. Run over 1800m in May, the Hollindale Stakes attracts a good group of staying type horses.

The Hollindale Stakes 2012 will be run on Thursday May 3rd, 2012.

A D Hollindale Stakes History:

Many of the Stakes? contenders will go on to race in the Group 1 XXXX Doomben Cup (2020m) and there have been several horses which have won the Stakes/Cup double including Above Deck in 2006, Mr Bureaucrat in 2002, Might And Power in 1998, Danewin in 1995, Durbridge in 1994 and Rough Habit in 1991-92.

Up until 1996 the A D Hollindale Stakes was a Group 3 race and prior to 1993 it was a listed race. The fastest recorded winning time was by This Manshood in 2004 with 1 minute 45.92 seconds. The slowest recorded winning time since 1989 was 1 minute 58.6 seconds by Rough Habit in 1992.
