Due to run as Race 8 at 3:40pm (AEST) as the penultimate event on the card, this year’s Group 1 $650,000 Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup (2000m) field is down to a dozen after the early scratching of It’s Somewhat (8) due to a fever.

It is a wide open edition of the race and currently three horses are battling for top spot in the Doomben Cup odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Market mover and narrow favourite well-backed in from $5.50 to $4.20 is the Mick Price-trained mare Oregon’s Day.

Drawn a treat in barrier two with veteran hoop Jim Byrne booked for the ride, the in-form four-year-old daughter of Domesday comes off a string of very nice runs.

Two back she was two and a half-lengths fourth to Alizee in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) over the Randwick mile before her May 5 win at the Gold Coast in the Group 2 A.D. Hollindale Stakes (1800m).

Oregon’s Day now chases the double after defeating a similar field of rivals last time out by one and a half lengths, the only test being her first run over the 2000m.

The dangers in the latest Doomben Cup betting markets are the Japanese imports Ambitious ($4.40) and Satono Rasen ($5), the latter one of four in the mix for Sydney’s best Chris Waller who chases his third success in the race.

To help uncover any value in the markets below we go over the full Doomben Cup 2018 form guide, betting history and statistical data before you place your bets at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Trainer Chris Waller has six chances at a third Doomben Cup win this weekend in Brisbane
