More Joyous

More Joyous is the firm favourite in the early 2011 Doncaster Mile odds

Gai Waterhouse’s glamour mare More Joyous is set to firm further in her favouritism to win the $2 million Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 16 after another sensational victory at Rosehill’s Coolmore Classic Day today.

More Joyous was never threatened in her devastatingly easy all-the-way win in the $175,000 Group 2 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) earlier today, the first betting favourite to salute for the punters at the meet.

The victory was the daughter of More Than Ready’s third straight this season with More Joyous already having won the Group 2 Breeders Classic (1200m) by 2 ½ lengths at Randwick on February 12 and then defeating Whobegotyou in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) on Blue Diamond Stakes Day at Caulfield.

After her brilliant start to the season, leading online bookmaker Luxbet installed More Joyous as the clear $3 favourite in their futures Doncaster Mile odds.

More Joyous is one of 88 horses that were paid up for at first acceptance stage for this year’s Doncaster Mile and one of seven from Waterhouse’s stables.

After her win in the Futurity Stakes on February 26, there were rumours owner John Singleton may send the superstar mare to Hong Kong.

The Futurity Stakes is the first leg of the lucrative Asian Mile Challenge, the next race in the series being the Champions Mile in Hong Kong on Anzac Day, April 25.

Singleton, however, ruled out claims that More Joyous would leave Aussie turf this season and confirmed plans to run her in the Doncaster.

Right on track to become the 2011 Doncaster Handicap winner, More Joyous will likely have her final lead-up to the rich mile showdown in the $400,000 Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill’s Golden Slipper Day, Saturday April 2, where she will attempt to add a fourth Group 1 win to her ultra impressive record.

The now-retired Typhoon Tracy won the Futurity Stakes / Queen of the Turf Stakes double 12 months ago before finishing a well-beaten 14th to Rangirangdoo in last year’s Doncaster Mile.

Rangirangdoo was injured following his Doncaster win, only resuming in the Canterbury Stakes today.

After putting in a game run, Rangirangdoo eventually finished nearly sixth lengths away fourth to More Joyous in the Canterbury, certainly not disgraced considering it was their first-up run in 11 months.

To get More Joyous at the best price for the 2011 Doncaster Mile, make sure you sign up with leading online bookmaker Luxbet today.
