The weather in Brisbane today is all sunny skies and we’ve got ideal racing conditions with a current Good (4) Eagle Farm track rating for the carnival’s feature meet.
Eagle Farm racing gets underway at 11:43am (AEST) and the exciting, all Black-Type, nine-race card continues through until 4:28pm (AEST) where the fillies and mares do battle in the Group 2 $200,000 Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m).
There will be plenty of eyes on Race 3 at 12:53pm when one of the country’s few remaining true Cup races – the Group 2 $400,000 Brisbane Cup (3200m) – runs over the two miles.
It may only hold Group 2 status, but Race 6 at 2:38pm (AEST) has $1.2 million in prize money on offer with Team Snowden’s Doomben Cup champ Huetor the one to beat again in the 2022 The Q22.
The Q22 field is down to 15 starters with Chris Waller withdrawing #15 Polly Grey (2) on vet’s advice.
There is a double shot of Group 1 racing to enjoy starting with Race 7 at 3:13pm (AEST) where the juveniles do battle in the $1 million J.J. Atkins (1600m).
The 2022 JJ Atkins field is now just under capacity with two scratchings, #11 Robusto (16) and #18 Amati (8), and markets have Team Rogerson’s Sharp ‘N’ Smart on top to turn the tables on Political Debate after they ran the quinella in last weekend’s The Phoenix.
Of course, the event everyone is waiting for is the Group 1 $1.5 million Stradbroke Handicap (1400m), and the marquee race is scheduled to jump at 3:53pm (AEST).
The 2022 Stradbroke Handicap field is at capacity and features the likes of Kingsford-Smith Cup winner Apache Chase, third in the same key lead-up Eleven Eleven who leads betting, and one-time favourite Ayrton drawn out near the carpark.
See below for the complete Stradbroke Handicap Day 2022 race program, jump times and official Brisbane scratchings before heading to Ladbrokes.com.au for the day’s top betting markets.
