Anacheeva is the Races.com.au team's favourite to cause an upset Rosehill Guineas result
Last year premier Victorian trainer Peter Moody had his hands on the top three-year-old stayer of the season with his impressive colt Anacheeva taking out the Caulfield Guineas, today at Rosehill Anacheeva is out to make history and claim victory in the 2011 Rosehill Guineas.
Anabaa colt Anacheeva was unbeaten last preparation winning a listed feature at Moonee Valley in August before taking out the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) and Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) during the spring.
After a spell, Moody bought Anacheeva back in the Listed Zeditave Stakes (1200m) on January 26, but first-up the Group 1 winner failed to impress running seventh to Eclair Mystic.
Next up was even worse, Anacheeva finishing 11th in the 15-horse field for the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) at Flemington in February.
Showing improvement third-up, however, Anacheeva came within three lengths of upset winner Shamrocker when sixth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) on March 5 from an unsuitably wide barrier 14 draw.
Today Anacheeva will make their Rosehill debut in the $500,000 Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) against a field of fellow three-year-olds.
If successful in the Rosehill Guineas today, Anacheeva will make the history books as the first three-year-old in five decades to take out the Caulfield Guineas – Rosehill Guineas double.
The last horse to win the prestigious Guineas double was King Brian back in 1961.
In the 2011 Rosehill Guineas betting markets at Luxbet, Anacheeva has been backed in from $17 to $15 to claim an upset over raging favourite, Jimmy Choux.
