Northam Racecourse



Established in 1863, Northam Racecourse has developed into one of Western Australia’s premiere winter courses.  It is located approximately an hour outside of Perth and is surrounded by the beauty of the Avon Valley and Mortlock River.

The track has a circumference of 2017 metres and is 25 metres in width with two chutes.  It offers a home straight that is 425 metres long.  The course also features such training facilities as a sand training track, round yard, education barriers, unofficial jumpout barriers, and two bridle trails.

Northam Racing

On average, Northam Racecourse hosts 25 races per year from May to October.  This includes such popular events as the Avon Valley Contractors Foundation Day Cup, Matriarch Cup, and Kids Big Day Out.  One of the other more popular events held at the course is Gannons Ladies Day Cup, which draws plenty of attention from racing enthusiasts from around the nation.

In addition to the fantastic racecourse, the grounds feature top class facilities.  Patrons can spend the day in the on-course restaurant or at one of the bars. The city of Northam also offers plenty of sights and activities for visitors to enjoy.

The track is located approximately 86 kilometres outside of Perth.  It is just an hour’s drive along the Great Eastern Highway.
