Alotta Spur has won the opening race at Caulfield Cup Day today scoring victory over a field of quality fillies in the $70,000 D’Urban Plate (1400m).

It was a good start to the day for the home team combo of trainer Peter Moody and jockey Luke Nolen.

Alotta Spur started the odds-on favourite paying $4.20 at [sportsbet] and she got a great run settling fifth early on letting Volando set the pace.

On the home straight Nolen let Allota Spur loose and the Jet Spur filly dug in, knuckled down and scored a classy win.

At the line it was Allota Spur one length ahead of What A Beauty ($4.40), given every chance but unable to finish off against the strong winner, with Follonica in third.

Allota Spur has now won two of her five career starts, her breeding an advantage today with her mother Gold Lottey a known wet-tracker.

The next race on the Caulfield card today is Race 2 – the $100,000 Listed Hoyts Food-Spices Stakes (1400m) due to jump at 12:10pm (AEDST) where Skilled is the hot favourite.
