Sir John Monash Stakes Nominations

Sixteen runners have been included in nominations for the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m); highlighted by the pending appearance of a number of exciting sprinters at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday.

Lord Of The Sky is a proven performer over the course and distance, and has been included in 2016 Sir John Monash Stakes nominations by trainer Robbie Laing.

Posting five wins and as many minors through twenty-two career starts so far, Lord Of The Sky undoubtedly found career-best form to date through the 2015 autumn; highlighted a strong run for fourth in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) a close seconds in each of the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m).

While failing to make anything of an impact through two autumn starts this year, the Danerich entire has trialled particularly well in the lead-up to his winter return and should prove tough to beat in the 2016 Sir John Monash Stakes.

Fast ‘N’ Rocking has returned to typically smart form of late and has been included in 2016 Sir John Monash Stakes nominations.

Fast ‘N’ Rocking clearly required a run when tenth in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) first-up on February 27^th, but responded well for fourth in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) on March 24^th.

Placing eighth in the TJ Smith Stakes on Day 1 of The Championships, the Fastnet Rock gelding responded well for third in the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) on All Aged Stakes Day before placing fourth in The Goodwood most recently on May 21^st.

The rising six-year-old should relish a good amount of time between races and undoubtedly has the class edge over the majority of Sir John Monash Stakes nominations.

Trainer David Hayes and Tom Dabernig are poised to launch a multi-pronged attack in the feature race after also including Kayjay’s Joy in Sir John Monash Stakes nominations.

Veteran sprinter Le Bonsir is an offseason stakes race specialist, and has been included by trainer Mick Price in Sir John Monash Stakes nominations.

Claiming nine wins and fourteen minors through forty-one career starts, Le Bonsir produced a number of typically gutsy efforts through 2015; highlighted by a close second in the Listed Straight Six (1200m) and a win in the Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m).

While yet to make anything of an impact through two starts this time, the son of Choisir will enjoy a return to Caulfield on Saturday.

The 2016 Sir John Monash Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday (July 13^th).
