Miss Promiscuity Hayes’ Pick in Monash Stakes

David Hayes and Tom Dabernig will saddle both Miss Promiscuity and Pago Rock in Saturday’s Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, but rate the former at their leading chance for success in the feature race.

Miss Promiscuity returned to racing this time for a comfortable win in the Mitsubishi Superscreen Handicap (1100m) on April 18th; progressing to consecutive seconds in each of the Ern Jensen Funerals Handicap (1100m) and Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) before failing to produce anything in the final straight and eighth in the Cafetto Evo Handicap (1200m) on June 6th.

Pleased with the condition of both his runners, Hayes told AAP Miss Promiscuity will be fitted with blinkers for the 2015 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and believes she should be forgiven for her most recent start.

“We took them off and she didn’t fire so we think that’s why she ran poorly the other day,” Hayes said.

“I’d forget her last run.

“I just feel that Miss Promiscuity is going very, very well but will need a lot of luck from that barrier.

“Pago Rock is in great, consistent form and has blinkers back on, so he could pull one out.

“I would lean to Miss Promiscuity but the barrier draw levels them up a bit. I’d expect them to be pretty close to weighing in, without being over-confident of winning.”

Miss Promiscuity has posted four wins and as many minors through thirteen career starts; beginning her racing tenure under the guidance of Peter Moody in 2013 before passing through the stables of Anthony Cummings and arriving in the care of Hayes and Dabernig following her 2014 campaign.

Pago Rock began his career in Perth before being transferred to the care of Peter Moody in 2011 and immediately stamped his claims as one to watch through a strong autumn campaign highlighted by a close second behind Smokin’ Joey in the Listed Super Saturday Stakes (1400m).

Ladbrokes.com.au is currently offering the best 2015 Sir John Monash Stakes odds, for which Miss Promiscuity can be taken at a quote of $15 and Pago Rock a particularly generous $21.
