Ladies Day at Flemington has kicked off with Tintern winning the 1800m 7Two Plate in front of Lord Pindari and Grail Jeuney.
With the track rated a dead 4, the Crown Oaks Day began with a wonderful win by the John Sadler-trained gelding who came home hard in the last 200m.
Coming out of the barriers early, Tintern and Blue Oscar held the front positions before Lord Pindari pushed up to lead by a length and a half.
Followed by Blue Oscar, Ace Harmony and Sesotho, Lord Pindari maintained his position until Tintern picked up the pace at the 300m mark.
Winning by two lengths, the five year old beat race favourite Grail Jeuney with a finishing time of 1 minute 48.66 seconds.
Jockey Nicholas Hall is delighted by the gelding’s win and believes that with a little more experience, Tintern is going to be a nice stayer.
