At Rosehill Racecourse today the rain has started to close in and the track has been downgraded to a Dead 5 for the Coolmore Classic Day programme.

With heavy rain now hitting the Rosehill track, it is likely the ground will continue to give and after the downpour an updated track assessment could see another downgrade to a Slow 6.

After going out odds-on at $1.18 on the tote, Blue Diamond Stakes winner and raging Golden Slipper betting favourite Sepoy suffered his first defeat from five starts.

Not having been tested in the rain or on a wet track before, Sepoy couldn’t catch run-away winner Smart Missile ($26) and finished second behind the Anthony Cummings-trained colt.

Rosehill Race 3 is next-up at 1:30pm (AEDST) where another field of Golden Slipper prospects will face off in the $300,000 Group 3 Reisling Stakes (1200m).
