2010 CB Cox Stakes Nominations

Perth Racing yesterday released the 2010 CB Cox Stakes nominations in anticipation of the feature Group 2 Perth Summer Racing Carnival feature that will take place at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday December 18.

The $225,000 Group 2 CB Cox Stakes (2100m) is one of Perth’s premier weight-for-age showdowns and 27 gallopers have been nominated for this year’s edition with the Chris Waller-trained Triple Honour the sole interstate raider.

Triple Honour improved greatly last start from their dismal performance in the Railway Stakes, finishing an eye-catching sixth to Playing God in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot on December 4 and is the only eastern state runner heading towards the 2010 CB Cox Stakes.

Kingston Town Classic runner-up Impressive Jeuney heads the CB Cox Stakes nominations, the classy four-year-old mare one of two entries for trainer Darren McAuliffe who has also nominated his Blackfriars gelding Dominicano.

Other Kingston Town Classic runners looking to back up in the CB Cox Stakes include six-year-old High Yield gelding Colour Correct, Grant William’s improving Testa Rossa four-year-old Ranger, the Adam Durrant-trained mare Ma Chienne and Neville Parnham’s Blackfriars four-year-old God Has Spoken.

Among the other notable CB Cox Stakes early entries are Listed GA Towton Cup winner Brandy Lane, in-form seven-year-old Guyno and Flying Spur three-year-old Hoegaarden.

The Joe Byrne-trained Hoegaarden is coming off a number of impressive runs including a win in the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m), third place finish in the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) and gallant second to Playing God in the Listed Aquanita Stakes (1800m).

The nominations for the 2011 Perth Cup, due to run on New Year’s Day, were also taken yesterday with 49 entries including eight eastern states-based horses in the mix for the $400,000 showdown.

The final field and barrier draw for the 2010 Landscape Development C.B. Cox Stakes will be out on Monday December 13 and published here at Races.com.au along with a detailed race form guide and our exclusive betting tips.

The CB Cox Stakes betting action will be some of the best of the summer, so make sure you are ready by opening at account with Luxbet today!
