Redzel steals the show in Melbourne returning in the 2018 Black Caviar Lightning, but at an odds-on price there is little value in the big one, so below are our Races.com.au Flemington best bets to help you clean up this autumn.
As the autumn heats up there are nine races for punters to sink their teeth into at Flemington today starting at 12:30pm (AEDT) and continuing through until 5:25pm (AEDT).
There is an elite level sprint on the cards with the returning Redzel set to dominate the Group 1 $750,000 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) first-up at 4:45pm (AEDT) and two Group 3 support acts.
Redzel is odds-on in Black Caviar Lightning betting and is the obvious best bet of the day, but aside from the Everest – Darley Classic champion there is value to be had and below are our exclusive Black Caviar Lightning Day Best Bets to get around at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Back off a 14 week break, this super Peter & Paul Snowden-trained sprinter looks very hard to beat first-up at Flemington where he is two-from-two after the Darley Classic win last time out. Flying in his trials and thrives fresh. Faces plenty of other good first-up sprinters, but he’s the class horse in the race and can salute to make it seven wins on the trot and get over $8 million in prize money on the board.
Not sure if this returning Lindsay Park-trained filly can win the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) first-up with the likes of Aloisia and Bring Me Roses there, but she’s huge value and is an Each Way chance for sure. Gets the run of the race from barrier four, while Aloisia is out in 11 of 11. Damien Oliver rides and the stable is famous for their success with the young fillies over the past season. Was runner-up to VRC Oaks winner Pinot in the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes (2000m) on Caulfield Cup Day before a Wakeful third only a quarter-length beaten on Derby Day. Her seventh in the Oaks was good, only three lengths off the winner, and first-up she has two seconds from as many fresh runs. Same over the distance.
Earlier we included Sully in our CS Hayes Stakes Trifecta Tip and he is the market mover in the Australian Guineas lead-up race. A money trail that could be worth following with so much value in this race. Dwayne Dunn rides from a favourable barrier fresh and this Trent Busuttin & Natalie young-trained grey goes well first-up. Has more than held his own in this class when third to Ace High in Sydney’s Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) and then second to the same galloper in the VRC Derby. Better over further later, but for now he’s got a 100% place rate over the CS Hayes Stakes metres (2:1-0-1) and has been brought on fitness-wise with a trial. Can challenge.
