Le Romain has not been seen at the race since April, but is poised to return to competition on Saturday after being included in 2017 Missile Stakes nominations.

A three-time Group 1 winner, Le Romain resumed this year for a smart win in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) before pipping Chautauqua on the line to win the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) second-up.

The Hard Spun gelding was gallant when second behind Winx in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m), but simply failed to fire when fifteenth in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m).

Last seen running a close second in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m), Le Romain has trialled well in the lead-up to the Missile Stakes and is undoubtedly the horse to beat.

Stable mate Invincible Gem was also a standout for trainer Kris Lees in autumn and has been included in Missile Stakes nominations.

The I Am Invincible filly posted three consecutive wins through January and early February, including the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m), before ending her campaign a close second behind Inference in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 14th.

Having trialled exceptionally well in the lead-up to her spring campaign, Invincible Gem is a genuine lightweight chance in the Missile Stakes.

Jungle Edge has been freshened-up since the Brisbane Winter Carnival and has also been included in 2017 Missile Stakes nominations.

Jungle Edge has produced several good performances through a long and busy racing career, but has undoubtedly found his best form to date in 2017.

Fifth in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) first-up, the Dubawi gelding ran third in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) before taking out the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m) with complete ease on March 25th.

Third once more in the All Aged Stakes, Jungle Edge failed to fire when fifth in the Listed Wangoom Handicap (1200m) at Warrnambool, but arrived in Brisbane to win the Group 3 BRC Sprint (1350m) on May 20th.

Second in the Group 1 Darley Kingsford Smith (1300m) on May 20th, Jungle Edge did not handle the firm surface at Doomben on June 10th and beat only one runner home in the Stradbroke Handicap.

A wet track and good draw are key in Jungle Edge’s success in the Missile Stakes on Saturday.

Memes has returned to racing in excellent form this time, but faces a notable step up in class into her likely berth in the 2017 Missile Stakes field.

Resuming for consecutive wins in a pair of minor New South Wales sprints, the Time Thief filly placed second in the Saintly Hall Of Fame Trophy (1100m) at Rosehill on May 20th before again posting consecutive wins in a pair of Saturday Randwick sprints.

Second behind Magic Alibi in the TAB BM85 (1200m) on July 1st, Memes will carry winning form into the Missile Stakes after comfortably winning the ATC Owner Benefits Card BM85 (1100m) on July 22nd.

The 2017 Missile Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday (August 2nd).
