It is a tight two-horse battle in 2026 Rosehill Guineas betting in Sydney this weekend with Chris Waller‘s Caulfield Guineas winner Autumn Boy tipped to return to winning form when he takes on the flying Observer in a stellar edition of the Slipper Day showdown.

One of five elite levels on the Slipper Day card, this year’s Group 1 $750,000 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) field features a compact but exciting line-up of three-year-old staying types ready to do battle with the Australian Derby in sight next month.
Heading the latest Rosehill Guineas betting markets at $2.20 is the Waller-trained market mover Autumn Boy looking to reclaim his Group 1 winning form third-up and fit.
He rounded out his spring last October with an impressive victory over Planet Red in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) and now the well-bred The Autumn Sun colt is tipped to recapture that form after two promising runs this prep.
Fresh he kicked off with a third in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes before going one better last start to finish runner-up behind class filly Sheza Alibi in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas over the mile off an on-speed run.
He looks like he’s crying out for further now third-up and fit, and he’s drawn ideally in gate three with the master James McDonald retaining the ride.
Observer is the obvious danger currently installed at Rosehill Guineas odds of $2.70.
Ciaron Maher‘s airborne colt chases his fifth win on the trot and ticks plenty of boxes to extend the picket fence now.
He went out a back-to-back winner with his spring campaign culminating with a career defining victory in Flemington’s Group 1 VRC Derby (2500m).
Observer surprised a few resuming over a shorter trip with plenty of weight, but he showed off his versatility and star qualities claiming the Group 2 Autumn Stakes (1400m) with 59.5kg by over a length.
His next run produced another stellar Group 1 winning effort as he saluted as the odds-on pick in the Australian Guineas (1600m) at HQ.
Heading north now, how he handles the Sydney way of racing will be key, but he continue to deliver, will relish the rise in distance and looks every chance to lead from barrier to box with Craig Williams, who boasts two wins in this event since 2014, coming aboard from gate two.
Outside the dominant duo in the markets are a host of other value Rosehill Guineas contenders looking to upstage the spruik three-year-olds in the field.
While no others are under $10 for the win, there are a number of double-figure fancies that could present as a threat including the rails-drawn Federalist ($10) for Team Hawkes.
The consistent I Am Invincible gelding remains a maiden after his opening eight starts but has started to put it all together now.
He put in his best efforts yet last weekend here at Rosehill finishing second to Sixties in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) and he’s on the quick back-up now.
Following closely are then the Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained Victorious Spirit ($11) who comes via a fourth in the Australian Guineas and Group 3 winning Street Boss colt Green Spaces ($11) for Bjorn Baker.
The 2026 Rosehill Guineas is scheduled as Race 6 at 3:15pm (AEDT) on Saturday’s stacked 10-race card in Sydney.
