Rothesay Banned from Racing in Australia

The Gerald Ryan-trained Rothesay has been banned from racing in Australia for life after the four-year-old Fastnet Rock entire bled after his Rosehill run today.

It was the second time Rothesay has bled from the nostrils post-race, which earns an automatic ban from racing.

He missed the spring three-year-old races last year when he bled in his fourth place run in the Roman Consul Stakes.

After a mandatory three month break he returned for the autumn with a lot of success.

Coming off a solid second to More Joyous in the Theo Marks Stakes last month, Rothesay ran in the $70,000 Jim Beam Handicap (1400m), Race 6 at Rosehill today finishing seventh.

A quality Group race winner, Rothesay’s career record stands at four wins from nine starts earning in excess of $424,000 in prize money.
