Cox Plate Betting Tips – Cox Plate Day Race 8

One of Australia’s ‘Big 3’ Group 1 races, the 2010 Cox Plate is scheduled to jump at 5:35pm (AEDST) today as Race 8 at Moonee Valley.

Here the Races.com.au team provide readers with our exclusive Cox Plate betting tips before the $3 million weight-for-age showdown this afternoon.

The 2010 Cox Plate final field features 10 top-class gallopers including two international raiders.

The clear-cut favourite in the Cox Plate field today is reigning champion So You Think, Bart Cummings’ star High Chaparral four-year-old back after a dominant win 12 months ago vying for successive Cox Plate wins.

So You Think is currently paying $1.65 to win today through Luxbet, drifting out slightly from $1.50 in the past 24 hours.

Strong last year and improved since then, impeccable preparation winning three straight, drawn ideally – there is too much to love about So You Think in the Cox Plate and the Races.com.au team are sticking to the well-backed favourite to win today’s marquee event.

Moonee Valley – Race 8 – Cox Plate

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #5 So You Think – Rated Special to Win at $1.65 Luxbet
  • Best Horses to Add in Exotics: #6 Shoot Out, #1 Zipping and #8 Captain Sonador – Luxbet

With So You Think such a short-priced favourite, we have selected three other runners to add into the exotics for more value in the Cox Plate betting.

Shoot Out has been in the headlines after his regular rider Stathi Katsidis passed away Tuesday morning, and since then money has slowly but continually come in for the John Wallace-trained gelding.

A super consistent performer having placed third at his last three starts, Shoot Out has track experience and form behind him to suggest he will be up there in the money.

Zipping is the veteran of the field, the nine-year-old vying for his maiden Cox Plate wins after three previously attempts that produced two placings.

There is a lot to like about this Lloyd Williams-owned Danehill gelding. He was tough in his Turnbull success over Shocking proving he had 2000m Group 1 wins still in him.

Roger Milne’s Queensland galloper Captain Sonador is one of the longest priced roughies in today’s Cox Plate who we fancy for value in the exotics.

Currently paying $81 at Luxbet, the in-form four-year-old had an excellent Group 1 win in the Epsom Handicap last start but has had just one run over 2000m.

Despite their inexperience with the distance, Captain Sonador has the talent and class to Place in the Cox Plate.

Check out all the Cox Plate betting odds and options available at Luxbet now, and if you haven’t already signed up there’s still time as it takes just five minutes!
