The 2010 Melbourne Cup Preview Day, originally scheduled to take place at Flemington this Saturday October 2, has been postponed until Sunday October 3 due to the re-match of the AFL Grand Final.
Featuring an elite line-up of nine Group and Listed races headlined by the $500,000 Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m), the major Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival meeting will now take place on Sunday to avoid a clash with the AFL Grand Final.
“Transferring the Flemington meeting to Sunday will lessen impacts on attendance, promotion and wagering for the first marquee meeting of the Victorian Spring Racing Carnival,” Racing Victoria Chief Executive Rob Hines said.
The reprogramming has also resulted in the move of four country club Cup meetings.
