Press Statement is undoubtedly the class horse of the field and remains clear $2.60 favourite in 2016 Hobartville Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Spill The Beans ($6) and Vanbrugh ($8.50).

Will Press Statement return to racing in the best way possible on Saturday or will one of his rivals post an upset in the Hobartville Stakes?

1st

Press Statement ($2.60)

Press Statement is a proven performer at the class and distance, will leave from the central barrier 8 with leading hoop Hugh Bowman aboard and will be very hard to beat in the Hobartville Stakes at even weights. Capping an impressive debut campaign with success in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) in June, the Hinchinbrook colt resumed in spring for a close second in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) before placing fifth in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m). Returning to winning form in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m), Press Statement produced a career-best performance to date to win the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) most recently on October 10th.

2nd

Montaigne ($9.50)

The Anthony Cummings-trained Montaigne has found exceptional form through his short racing career so far, and while facing his biggest task to date in the Hobartville Stakes, undoubtedly offers punters the best value for money at $9.50 to win or $2.95 to finish in the first three. Debuting for second in the Schweppes Maiden Plate (1100m) on January 7th, the Road To Rock gelding broke through for a maiden race win in the More Than Winning Maiden (1400m) before repeating the dose in the Colin Tidy Tribute BM78 (1600m) most recently a fortnight ago. Montaigne could very well receive the run of the race from barrier 4.

3rd

Spill The Beans ($6)

Spill The Beans will leave from barrier 9 in the Hobartville Stakes and carries winning form at black type level into the race. Finishing outside the first three only once in six career starts, the Snitzel colt ran a credible sixth in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) upon resuming in spring; progressing to second in the Listed Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m) before ending his campaign a close second in the Flemington Fling (1000m) on Melbourne Cup Day. Having taken out the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) first-up on February 6th, Spill The Beans will be partnered by Kiwi hoop Matt Cameron for the first time in the Hobartville Stakes.
