Reigning Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy has been ruled out of the 2010 Cox Plate, trainer Peter Moody choosing to bypass the $3 million weight-for-age feature at Moonee Valley Saturday week in favour of the fillies and mares-only Myer Classic.

Originally entered for the Cox Plate on Saturday 23, where the five-year-old Red Ransom mare would face off against hot favourite So You Think in the 2040m feature, connections will now save Typhoon Tracy for the $500,000 Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day, Saturday October 30.

Twelve months ago Typhoon Tracy enjoyed an emphatic four and three-quarter length victory in the Myer Classic and will now be back to defend her title this year.

“All is well with the horse. The owners have just decided to bypass the Cox Plate and reserve her for mares’ races,” Moody said.

Unbeaten in races confined to her own sex, five-time Group 1 winner Typhoon Tracy has had mixed results in her spring starts this season finishing fourth in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield in august before running a gallant second to Whobegotyou in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes last month.

Most recently the $2 million earner was not disgraced finishing fifth to Zipping in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington.

Typhoon Tracy was a $21 chance to win the Cox Plate, betting totally dominated by Bart Cummings So You Think currently paying $1.55 with Gai Waterhouse’s More Joyous the closest rival at $6.50.
