Fame Game the Worst 2015 Melbourne Cup Betting Result for Bookmakers

In what is undoubtedly the biggest day in Australian racing from the perspective of trainers, jockeys, connections and punters, Ladbrokes Australia has revealed Japanese raider Fame Game is without doubt the worst result for bookmakers today, while a number of other clear Melbourne Cup betting trends have surfaced.

Fame Game stamped himself as a serious stayer when finished a close second in the famed Group 1 Tenno Sho (3200m) in his homeland earlier this year, and has continued to receive notable attention since connections confirmed his trip to Melbourne a few months ago.

Paul Di Cioccio of Ladbrokes.com.au revealed Fame Game has been included in a number of big multibets, while British hope Trip To Paris has also received plenty of support.

“Fame Game is clearly the worst in the book, however the damage is all in the multi’s, which have been building up for weeks,” Di Cioccio said.

“As of yesterday afternoon Fame Game was around a 1.25 million bad result, even though he has been $4.20 out to $4.80 since yesterday morning

“Trip To Paris has been the big mover, $9 into $7, and the money just keeps coming.

“It’s actually clearly the worst in the normal race book.”

While Fame Game and Trip To Paris continue to receive healthy support in the hours leading up to the race that stops a nation, Di Cioccio revealed there has also been plenty of Melbourne Cup betting focus on Australian runners, while a spike is expected for popular veteran Red Cadeaux.

Preferment was another big mover on the back of heavy support at yesterday’s Call of The Card in Melbourne,” Di Ciocci said.

Sertorius has been well supported on the back of Tom Waterhouse‘s wager to win 5 million at yesterday’s Call of The Card.

“It also is the worst result clearly in our Top 10 market taking out 40k.

“Red Cadeaux has remained steady in the market, but all the once a year punters have good memories and he should end up a loss considering his outstanding record in Cup.”

Godolphin raider Sky Hunter ($34) has continued to receive huge support in 2015 Melbourne Cup betting fields and figures as clear market mover after opening at a quote of $67, while Criterion ($17), Hokko Brave ($41) and Grand Marshal ($51) have all continued to drift at Ladbrokes.com.au.
