Baligari has so-far received the greatest market share of attention from punters, who have seen the gelding in to tied $5 favouritism with Danchai at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Darci Be Good ($5.50) and talented local Volkhere ($6).

Will Baligari justify his resounding favouritism and win the 2015 Ipswich Cup, or will one of his many classy rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Baligari ($5)

Baligari has found great form leading into the 2015 Ipswich Cup, will carry just 54kgs and will leave from the idea barrier 4. Posting a career total of four wins and seven minors through 16 career starts so far, the Purrealist gelding ran a credible third in the Listed City Of Adelaide Stakes (1400m) on April 25thl progressing to fourth in the Listed Members’ Handicap (1600m) before finishing a close second behind Faust in the Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2020m) on May 23rd. Having been confirmed to be partnered by in-form local hoop Ric McMahon, all signs seem to point towards a return to the winner’s circle for Baligari on Saturday.

2nd

Noisy Ocean ($15)

A proven performer over track and distance, Noisy Ocean ran second in the 2014 edition of the Ipswich Cup and is also weighted well at just 54kgs. Having taken out the Coastline BMW Handicap (1400m) on the Sunshine Coast on May 3rd, the Shovdog gelding was unlucky to be blocked for a run late when sixth in the Summerveld Racing Stables BM95 (1800m) but will carry winning form into the 2015 Ipswich Cup after comfortably taking out the Coolangatta Hotel Handicap (1800m) on May 30th.

3rd

Volkhere ($6)

A consistent performer for trainer Robert Heathcote in recent seasons, Volkhere has found typically good form leading into Saturday’s feature at the Ipswich Turf Club but will need some luck in running from barrier 12. Returning for third in the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap (2200m) on April 25th, the Dehere gelding ran second behind Pornichet in the Toowoomba Cup (2150m) on May 2nd. Having boxed on for a credible fifth in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2200m) last weekend, Volkhere is primed for a competitive performance in the Ipswich Cup.
