Denman Retiring to Stud in Australia Without July Cup Run

The Group 1 winning son of boom sire Lonhro, formerly trained by Peter Snowden, was sent to Darley’s UK stables but connections have announced Denman will not be running in the upcoming Group 1 July Cup (1207m) at Newmarket.
The galloper was sent overseas to hopefully add some international glory to his already glittering profile, but was unable to get fit enough to contest the race in the time.
His swansong race was then a solid fourth place to Rock Classic in the Group 1 Australian Crown Guineas (1600m) at Flemington in March.
Denman had a very successful career across the Australian tracks winning nine of his 12 starts for a lucrative $1,277,875 in prizmoney, including his breakthrough elite level win in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill in 2009.
He is now heading to quarantine to prepare to return Down Under for his retirement to stud. Denman’s first season at stud will be in the Hunter Valley at Darley’s Kelvinside Stud with his expected fee to be $38,500.
