Final fields for the feature Randwick races in Sydney on Saturday are now out including those for the 2014 Champagne Stakes where a host of last start winning juveniles will be out to string successive autumn victories together.

This year’s $400,000 Group 1 Moet & Chandon Champagne Stakes (1600m) is scheduled to run as Randwick Race 5 at 2:50pm (AEST) and has drawn 10 two-year-olds at final acceptance stage.

Half of those won their last start making for a hotly contested affair including the Gerald Ryan-trained Bachman.

Drawn in gate three with Hugh Bowman to ride, the All American colt has won their last two on the trot including the Group 3 The Schweppervescence (1400m) in the mud at Rosehill back on Golden Slipper Day.

There they thrived in the wet conditions to put a minimum two and a half lengths on their rivals in a game effort they’ll be out to repeat at elite level this weekend.

The Schweppervescence runner-up Scratch Me Lucky and third placegetter Veuvelicious are also set to run in the Champagne Stakes.

The Paul Perry-trained Scratch Me Lucky has finished second best in their past two runs, their Slipper Day effort followed by a brave run behind Peggy Jean in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) here on April 12.

Veuveliciousm, a Damien Oliver mount for Saturday, meanwhile backed up from their Schweppervescence to win their next start having beaten a decent field last Saturday in the Listed Fernhill Handicap over the Randwick mile.

ATC Sires’ Procude winner Peggy Jean meanwhile is another Ryan-trained runner in the mix, the Myboycharlie filly yet to finish out of the money.

She’s won two of her five starts to date, both at Randwick with the Inglis Classic and Sires Produce to her name, and she’s also got other good form lines including her second to subsequent Golden Slipper third placegetter Bring Me The Maid in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill in March.

Along with Bachman and Peggy Jean Ryan has also paid up for likely outsider Lucky Raquie backing up from an eighth to their stable mate in the Sires’ Produce.

The other last start winners in the mix meanwhile are then the Allan Denham-trained Authorized gelding Proxy having just their fourth career start and the also lightly raced Go Indy Go to be ridden by Chad Schofield.

Bernardini filly Go Indy Go runs outside of her home city Adelaide for the first time here earning her shot at the Sydney riches after her last start victory in the Group 3 Adelaide Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago.

Rounding out the Champagne Stakes field are then the David Hayes-trained VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Zululand, Peter Snowden’s rails-drawn Lonhro colt Kumaon and Unknown Destiny to be ridden by Tommy Berry who bagged at Group 1 double at the track last weekend.
