Victoria Derby favourite Shamoline Warrior should prepare himself for a tough race tomorrow with Onemorenomore ready to steal the spotlight off him.

The pair met two weeks ago at Caulfield during the Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes (2000m) where Onemorenomore had a tough run out in front however ended up finishing one and a half lengths behind race winner Shamoline Warrior.

Shamoline did not space Onemorenomore however his sprint from the 600m to 400m mark was unforgettable and certainly earned him his rating as the Derby favourite.

It seems that Onemorenomore’s problem is he cannot settle down before the races, a trait jockey Damien Oliver has been working on to eliminate.

Originally supposed to be ridden by suspended jockey Glen Boss, Onemorenomore has a habit of pulling during the race and throwing his head however Oliver has been training the three year old over a longer distance which will hopefully teach the colt to settle early and pace himself during the event.

Previous to Oliver, the Derby contender was being trained over short distances which did not teach the colt to pace himself early in the race, a clear example of this being his up-the-front lead early on in the Norman Robinson Stakes.

Onemorenomore previously won the Group 1 Champagne Stakes by four lengths and came third in the Group 1 George Main Stakes and has been rated by Boss as a potential top three qualifier for tomorrow’s $1 Million race.

Shamoline Warrior is the current favourite for the Victoria Derby at 3.20 while Onemorenomore follows in fourth place at 10.00.
