Predatory Pricer’s spring campaign has come to an end after finishing 12th in Saturday’s Caulfield Cup.

After what described by jockey Steven King as an “absolutely disastrous” run at Caulfield, the galloper was found yesterday to have a suspensory ligament injury and will be out for three to six months.

Trainer Paul Murray found heat in the off-side front leg and will have the injury scanned today however owner Alex Leopold is hoping the horse will be back in time for the 1600m and 2000m autumn races next year.

With the horse withdrawn from next Saturday’s $3 million Cox Plate at Moonee Valley, Bart Cumming’s three year old So You Think will be given a place in the starting line.

Meanwhile, Mark Kavanagh’s Maldivian has been officially retired from racing after sustaining yet another injury.

The 2008 Cox Plate winner injured his tendon during track work on Tuesday in preparation for the Caulfield Cup.

The gelding will have stem-cell treatment for the injury before retiring to Living Legend farm at Tullamarine.

Maldivian won the 2007 Yalumba Stakes and the 2009 Orr Stakes to amass $2.82 million in prize money during his racing career.
