Black Caviar won the 2011 Lightning Stakes just like everyone expected of her. What many may not have expected was just how easily the great mare managed to do it.

Forget the margin of three lengths or the overall race time because if she really wanted to she could have won it by another three seconds.

The real question wasn’t if she would win or really even by how much. It was what will trainer Peter Moody do with her next.

Many have said she needs to go overseas to find a genuine challenge and others have said even then no challenges exist.

Peter Moody set the record straight though after the race saying Australia has plenty of races and there are plenty of planes so if someone wants to throw down the gauntlet they can come face her here.

It would be great to see an overseas trainer take up this challenge just so we could see the mare pushed to her full extent.

It’s fantastic news for Australian race fans though to know Black Caviar is here to stay with no doubt many more Group One wins are just around the corner.
