Anacheeva Favourite in 2011 Zeditave Stakes Field

Peter Moody’s star three-year-old Anacheeva kicks off their Australian Guineas campaign this Wednesday, January 26th, set to start the favourite in the $100,000 Listed Zeditave Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield’s Australia Day 2011 meeting.

Anabaa colt Anacheeva is the current $10 equal favourite in the futures odds at Luxbet with Star Witness to win the $750,000 Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 5 after a brilliant spring campaign.

Posting three wins on the trot, Anacheeva took out a Listed sprint at Moonee Valley in late August before winning the Caulfield Guineas Prelude and then the $1 million Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) in October.

On Wednesday Anacheeva resumes racing in the 2011 Zeditave Stakes, jumping from barrier seven with Luke Nolen in the mount.

Local trainer Moody will also be represented by Commands gelding Servant, the promising youngster well-weighed with 55kg and Ben Melham in the mount, drawn in barrier three.

Caulfield Guineas runner-up Run For Levi is also set to resume racing in the Zeditave this Australia Day.

John Thompson’s classy Hussonet colt Run For Levi will be ridden by Craig Newitt from barrier five looking to turn the tables on Anacheeva after being beaten by less than a length in the Caulfield Guineas.

Other notable runners looking for an upset in the Zeditave Stakes this year include Hidden Dragon colt Hollowlea, Robert Smerdon’s consistent Stratum gelding Eclair Mystic, Not A Single Doubt gelding Spirited Eagle, the Tony Vasil-trained Roadtrain and Mark Kavanagh’s lightly-raced Linked In having just their second career start after winning on debut at Geelong on January 5.

Hollowlea won the Group 2 Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley in September before finishing a distant 13th to Anacheeva in the Caulfield Guineas.

The Terry & Karina O’Sullivan-trained three-year-old then improved with a third place behind Rekindled Interest in the Group 2 AAMI Vase and will start one outside of the favourite in gate eight on Wednesday.

The 2011 Zeditave Stakes will run as Race 5 at Caulfield on Wednesday, other highlights on the card being the two Blue Diamond Previews.
