2017 Taj Rossi Series Final Betting: Royal Symphony Odds-On

Early top fancy for the Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas in the spring, Royal Symphony has opened odds-on to take out the Taj Rossi Series Final 2017 at Flemington Racecourse this weekend.

The first of four black-type features on the Finals Day program, this year’s $120,000 Listed Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m) field is down to a dozen starters after the early scratching of the Lindsay Park-trained Mulk (6).

Updated Taj Rossi Series Final odds at Ladbrokes.com.au are all about the undefeated Tony McEvoy-trained Royal Symphony who is eying a Group 1 Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas (1600m) run over the mile in October.

A winner of both his previous career starts, the promising Domesday colt has potential plus and is into a short $1.40 to make it three-from-three on Saturday.

Last time out he enjoyed a nearly four length win over 1400m at Flemington and should see out the 1600m on the weekend no worries from barrier two with Dwayne Dunn retaining the ride.

Just one of his rivals are also under $10 for the win in the latest Taj Rossi Series Final betting markets with Evil Cry considered the best chance of scoring the big upset.

A two-year-old Street Cry colt, Evil Cry is prepared by Robbie Laing and comes off a Caulfield second over 1200m behind Lone Eagle from July 1.

Group 3 performed, Evil Cry sees further than 1200m for the first time on the weekend but is tipped to enjoy the step-up in distance.

The other best fancied in the Taj Rossi Series Final odds this winter is then the Leon & Troy Corstens-trained High Chaparral colt Whoomph out to turn the tables on Royal Symphony.

Whoomph finished nearly four lengths back second to Royal Symphony last time out as a $31 outsider, but won’t be found at a price that generous for his second shot at the gun youngster.

There’s also been a tickle of money for Anchor Bid from the Darren Weir stables, the High Chaparral filly out to break her maiden status at start number three.

Her latest run was a distant seventh behind Royal Symphony, but her breeding suggests she’ll eat-up a mile and further putting her in the mix here after getting zero luck in running last time out.

Mornington trainer Jerome Hunter meanwhile saddles-up two hopefuls in the Taj Rossi Series Final field with Lady Seabring and the roughie of the race Bernie’s Tiger.

Despite the huge odds on offer for his Bernardini gelding Bernie’s Tiger, who ran four lengths back ninth to his stablemate on debut at Geelong on June 30 over 1300m, Hunter believes he is the better of the two going up to a mile.
