2020 Magic Millions Sprint Betting Update: Top 3 Hard to Split

The bookies are tipping a three-horse affair in the Magic Millions Snippets 2020 – formerly the Magic Millions Sprint – at the Gold Coast on Saturday with Champagne Cuddles, Isaurian and Madam Rouge dominating the markets.

It shapes up as an open edition of the $1 million Magic Millions Snippets (1200m) this Queensland Summer Racing Carnival with less than a dollar separating the first three in the markets.

Despite a wide barrier 12 draw, the resuming Bjorn Baker-trained mare Champagne Cuddles has retained narrow favouritism at current Magic Millions Sprint odds of $4.40 through Ladbrokes.com.au.

Jockey Nash Rawiller is back in the saddle of the Not A Single Doubt five-year-old who hasn’t raced since her close fifth when only one and a half lengths off the winner Pierata in Rosehill’s $1 million Redzel Stakes (1300m) on November 2.

That capped off a very consistent spring carnival in Sydney for the Group 2 winner who also ran three minor placings in Group company.

Champagne Cuddles has had two recent Rosehill trials to bring her on fitness wise and is a noted first-up performer (7:3-0-4) who looks well placed in this grade of race.

Occupying the second line of Magic Millions Sprint betting at $4.60 is Godolphin’s last start Eagle Farm winner Isaurian.

The Exceed And Excel five-year-old posted a narrow win in the $140,000 Listed Magic Millions Falvelon Quality (1200m) on December 21 as a warm-up for Saturday’s million dollar showdown.

The bay has a top record in Queensland and from a nice midfield barrier seven draw shapes-up as a winning hope again second-up and fitter for his earlier victory.

Trainer Chris Waller saddles-up a number of genuine Magic Millions Day hopefuls on Saturday including his progressive Zoustar mare Madam Rouge in the Snippets.

The four-year-old won the Group 3 The Nivision (1200M0 at Randwick in late October on the back of her close fourth as a $71 roughie when only two lengths off The Inevitable in the $500,000 Silver Eagle (1300m).

Things went amiss for her at Rosehill on November 9 when dead last in the Group 2 Hot Danish (1400m), but she quickly atoned in easier company back down in distance for her Listed Christmas Classic (1200m) win on December 28 at Randwick.

Madam Rouge now lines-up over her pet distance again (6:3-2-0) in the Magic Millions Snippets from barrier one with James McDonald to ride.

Of the local hopes from the sunshine state, the Stuart Kendrick-trained Tarzan presents as a potential danger having won five of his past seven starts.

The Drumbeats seven-year-old was last seen carrying a hefty 63.5kg to victory over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast on Boxing Day, but this is a tougher affair.

Tarzan may be in consistent form, but he has won just one of his six starts over the 1200m and will be fighting to shake his tag as only a 1000m performer.

There is money for him with Tarzan into $10 (from $13) at Ladbrokes.com.au, Luke Tarrant to ride on 57kg from barrier nine.

The other standouts look to be the 59kg topweight Kemalpasa ($11) in gate three chasing a fifth win on the trot after a last start Group 2 victory down the Flemington straight over the Cup Carnival, and the Steven O’Dea-trained Scallopini coming off a second to Isaurian in the Falvelon.
